Recruiting

Really worried about attracting Tennessee kids to the program. We lost a four start today to Arkansas, SMH. Blackman high school Murfreesboro!

Trey Knox didn't choose Arkansas over UT because of this year's poor on-field performances. Not if he's actually watched Arkansas play.

I wanna see UT to use all the tools they have in a creative way to generate hype and make it THE SCHOOL to be at. spend the money but land those solid 3* great 4* and elite 5*'s that want to be here and are hungry to get this program back to where it should be, the TOP! We need football smarts , aggressiveness , desire , passion and a fire inside our players that drives them each and everyday. Its time to get it turned around.

What’s the history on this guy?

AR over UT doesn’t add up. Maybe if his Daddy was from AR and moved to Tennessee for a better life.

I’m not as excited about our recruiting as many on here. We aren’t reeling in big time d linemen and until we start doing that our defense will suck

Offensive and defensive line (the best) are, in my opinion , much more important that average running backs, tight ends etc. Without o and d linemen the remainder is obsolete. The game is won and lost at the line of scrimmage !!! I will take an exceptional o line and just average running backs, quarterback any day of the week !!!!!

To tell the truth were not having much success with instate recruits. The entire starting OL are Tennessee recruits. We may need to not worry about where a player is from and if they can play.

Certainly always like to keep TN boys home. Above all else, I just want to see more OL/DL...and don't care what state they're from!

I'd like to see more Tennessee kids plying at UT too.

That's just NOT the goal though.

The goal is to build a Team that can WIN.

Where a kid is from is meaningless as long as they keep their grades up and help us WIN.

VFL...GBO!!!

that's the biggest hole in this class. we have i think 6 committed, but none that you'd consider difference makers.
Bogle was probably at the top of the list, and i think we did a really good job of recruiting him. but he just isn't leaving S. Fl. so it is what it is. the rest of the class is solid. and if you get Darnell Wright, you get the two top OT's in the country. that's freaking awesome.....lol. and the rest of the OL commits have really high celings.

and past that, our next two DL on the board, it seems anyway, are two comitted players in Norton and Moore. i won't count them out on either of those kids, as they both continue to at least keep the door open.

but yeah, that's a high risk scenario....if they were to get either of those guys, i'd feel A LOT better about our DL prospects, cause then you'd have, at least what looks like, an anchor on the DL to build this class around.

i guess, for me, while i agree with you on the DL issue, they have, and are, certainly addressing the OL issue. they know the LOS is where it's at. and i don't expect the DL to be down for long. if nothing else, we'll be really young on the DL next year, but we do have #'s, and in the 3-4 base, you don't necessarily have to have your DL be stat getters. our LB corp next season should really be solid.

well, post Stripling will be same as pre Stripling. It's back to adding muscle to DE's.

J Peyton is the top wr on vols board. Knox is ok but had bad film and if y’all remember got called out by Pruitt and was not offered on his visit. He had to come back and work out for the coaches to get an offer , much later. Seems like Arkansas throws it more than Tennessee currently. 🏦🏦 is said to be a motivating factor.

Good kid, good player. We're looking for more speed at wr.

.
Similar to Wilhoite. Agree. Need speed at WR.
The one in-state wr I like is Sheffield though. 10.78 in the 100. TJ's QB is going to be special too. Ethan Cash '20.

yeah, i think Sheffield has some interest. but i don't know he'll get a legit scholarship offer with guys like Payton, Brown and Curry still on the board. and unless his offer list blows up in the not too distant future, i could see a PWO...but that point, it'll just depend on just how bad he wants to play here. cause he can get a free ride somewhere else.
