Does Nunes commitment to Stanford hurt us getting Brown, and other recruits? Does it also mean others will de-commit. I know he said it was because Stanford was his dream school, but It honestly has to do with our play at least 40%, and I wonder if that is hurting every other Recruit's opinion of us right about now.

IMO, Brown isn't a "must get", but also Brown isn't going to Stanford either. So, I would say it didn't hurt.

Considering Nunes was working hard to get Brown here, losing Nunes doesn't help in any way and at the least we lose a voice in our corner.

it's a big hit, how could it not be? a guy commits to a school and is actively recruiting others and then decommits. anyway you look at it, it smells bad.

I'd say it is about 75% the booing and fans leaving.

Distance wasn't a problem at all the first time he went to K'ville. All of a sudden the Vols lay an egg and fan reaction was something less than "supportive"... and the guy has dreams of playing at Stanford. Say what you want but a kid doesn't love the coaching staff and everything about the program on one visit, be an active recruiter of other prospects, then suddenly realize the program is trash and too far away. OTOH, the fan behavior at the UF game was a new revelation to him.

If I were a top recruit right now, I'm not sure I'd consider UT even if they pulled off a miracle to go 9-3... Why would I want to play in front of fans that turned on me when the chips were down?

I guess we should go after Auburn recruits then since I heard the booing from my couch Saturday.

I'd say you are 100% wrong.

For real. I was at the game. They were riding Todd harder than we were Crompton. Booing and then chanting Ko-di Ko-di

Oh, that was convincing. Nunes is all Vol up until his last trip... even recruiting guys from all over the country. Suddenly after the booing and fans leaving early, it is too far to travel.

Several of the visiting commits mentioned being disappointed by the fan behavior.

I guess that must have nothing to do with it though since you've said so.

Nunes told the coaches before the game he was opening his recruiting back up.

You're right, recruits are far more concerned with the fans than playing for a team that is competitive. That's why recruits flock to USCe because the fans support an average team.

Do you think Auburn fans booing their own QB is hurting their recruiting like UT?

Didn't say that mo. Recruits that make commitments have already bought the idea that the current coaching staff can compete... It is when something causes doubt about their security... and the security of any future coach or player that the booing and leaving have an impact.

I heard a smattering of boos and no one left. If they boo and walk out of say... the UGA game... then yes, it will hurt them with recruits.

Go look through all of my posts and you will find I have said I don't boo.

So I've been going to games since I was 13 (have missed a handful) and cheered many times until losing my voice. Do I deserve to go 10 years with no SEC Titles or is it just a one-way street?

I'm sorry then for falsely accusing you.

No. I think those who are booing DO deserve it though. Not necessarily because the product on the field doesn't deserve to be booed... they've been pretty awful at times.

They deserve it for being so absolutely STUPID. The fans ARE a big part of the UT tradition and image. I think recruits would have been impressed had the fans been there cheering until the end... or at least had they not turned on their players.
