so this weekends MotoGP will pretty much be the last feather in my cap as far as seeing all the major motorsports series currently, in the world. needless to say, it's at the greatest race track in the world as well, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

my uncle, being as we've been season ticket holders for years, was allowed to hand pick our seats for the race. we will be in turn 1, halfway up, under the cover. plus, we'll be there for practice on friday. i hope to get some great pictures to put up here.

i've pretty much read the FAQ/explanation section on Overview | The Official MotoGP Website

after reading up on the bikes, how the riders work them, and the technical aspects, i'm even more excited to see them in person. plus, practice on Friday is going to allow me the opportunity to be all over the track. that, i think, is going to be even more awesome than the race.

i guess since i am a part of the Tifosi, i will be pulling for the Ducati Marlboro Team. i feel like a bandwagon jumper though since they currently have the last world champ in their stable, but i think the the Italians build the best looking machines this guy has ever set his eyes on. i might even by myself a hat if i can find a decent looking one.

Looking forward to the pics. You will not believe how far they lay those bikes over & their speeds. I've been to Daytona Bike Week, and was corner worker for several bike races at Mid-Ohio & Nelson Ledges, but they aren't as quick as these GP bikes. Enjoy!

yeah, i was really the most impressed with how they lean the bike and distribute the weight using the breaks, all on two tires that have very little contact with the road.

this road course layout is also about 100x better than the F1 layout.

in fact, i've heard that F1 is very interested in the current circuit again. i was watch the pre-race at Spa Sunday morning and Eccelstone (i think i was i still half asleep) mentioned it could be a possibility. i don't think there's anywhere else that could afford to put in the renovations to the track to get an F1 race.

3pm Sunday on NBC, i think. Going to be a far better show than the borefest known as New Hampshire. Check it out.

Just about a lock on that, only reason I'll watch some of Loudon race is the contests. Most of my time will be the bikes.

the last pic is a 250cc bike. look at his back wheel off the ground.

The braking ability of these bikes is incredible. Racing in the rain on two wheels always made my behind's pucker power increase about ten times.

Nice pics.

Both you guys need to make a trip to Barber. We missed out on MotoGP due to some local politics. George Barber is constantly changing the facility to meet the needs of various series. IRL is a legit possibility and given his motorcycle background - I bet we see MotoGP here.

He's also building a moto-cross facility that that will be top notch.

well, as you can see it was an interesting weekend to say the least. i've been going to the Speedway my whole life and count on two fingers, to the best of my recollection, the times i have seen racing in the rain. we had great seats and managed to stay dry most of the weekend.

it was amazingly perfect on Saturday though and we got to see the MotoGP riders in full form. lap times dropped something like 12 seconds between Friday and Saturday.

we had the chance to meet Colin Edwards as well.

from all reports, despite the weather, the MotoGP was a successful one. the local media praised the Dorna and the access they provided to the riders.

i'll get some more pictures up soon.

Hey doozer-just wondering if you had any of those pictures to post? I went that day and had a blast! I followed MotoGP mostly online, so this was a real treat. Anybody here ever go to the F1 race at Indy? Didn't know if it was worth my time.
