That's what Martin said today.

Said he has made great progress and has started taking part in drills, not close yet, but he'll be back this season.

This makes me wonder a bit more about Maymon? With Maymon in the fold I see Reese struggling to find minutes, so wouldn't you redshirt him? Makes me wonder if they are starting to think Maymon may redshirt and thus need Reese's presence for depth later in the year.

With the way this knee problem keeps rearing its ugly head on a regular basis, I've had an unpleasant feeling that we might see Maymon redshirt this season before the final tale is told.

I thought Maymon had already redshirted. Hopefully I'm wrong would love to have him back next season because Stokes is likely gone.

He would go through a medical redshirt this year if it came down to it. He redshirted during his transfer year too.

I don't think so. Maymon played a half of a season at Marquette transferred to UT sat out during the spring of his freshman year and fall of sophomore year (because of transfer rules.) Played, but sat behind Pearl jr his sophomore year in the spring. Then played all year last year his Junior year. So he hasn't redshirted at all to the best of my knowledge.

That's mostly true. Maymon didn't sit behind Pearl. He sat behind Tobias.

You are correct. My apologies. Transfers sit out but don't lose a year of eligibility.

Pearl moved over and played mostly the SF to let Maymon get PT. Maymon really didn't do much with that PT. But they both saw about 10 mpg.

Hmm I remember it differently and looking at the numbers...after Maymon became eligible:

He was eligible for 26 games and only appeared in 14 of those, Pearl on the other hand appeared in every game.

Yes. Maymon got his shot. Pearl moved to the SF during those games. Neither played well at those positions and Maymon went back to the bench and Pearl went back to the SF and for the most part Harris' minutes went up. Maymon did start getting minutes again towards the very end of the season.

My point is that people want to act like Maymon not seeing time his sophomore year was because CBP played his son over a better player. But Maymon himself has admitted he wasn't ready to play and didn't perform well.

Yes. When Maymon arrived, he was infatuated with the perimeter. Being asked to play in the paint was a key reason in his decision to transfer from Marquette.

He pressed way too hard in his limited minutes in his first season and tried to do too much in his limited minutes. He never met a shot he didn't like and it didn't matter where he was on the court.

He was abysmal. What a difference a year and a coaching change made for his progress.

Yeah, I was niave enough to think maybe Woolridge would undergo the same transformation. No such luck.

Me too. I thought he'd be able to with his size and athleticism alone.

After Maymon exploded at Maui I just kept waiting for Woolridge to finally realize his potential too. Guy had about one amazing game a season and that was it.

Wooly could have possibly made that transformation had he accepted that he was a PF and not a SG. He wanted so badly to play outside the paint and never made the commitment to improve his post play. He had the size, athleticism, and pedigree to excel there.

And I will take the one he had that year against Kansas. Just an unbelievable game.
