Ref Test for SEC Officials

I'm going to try without looking at the answer key:

1. Incomplete pass. Offense maintains possession, 3rd and 7 at the defense's 32 with 2:00 minutes left in the game. The clock starts on the snap.

2. The offense gets the ball 1st and 10 at the defense's 12 yard line. There is no game clock in OT.

3. Personal foul on the defense enforced from the end of the run. Offense gets the ball 1st and 10 from the defense 20 yard line. The clock starts on the snap.

Is that all? It may look complicated to some people, but for someone who actually studies these things, it should be second nature. I'm not sure if this is meant to gain sympathy or show how ridiculously easy the technicalities of that job should be with any focus at all. It isn't exactly an engineering or nuclear physics book.

But wait, UT had 13 players on the field.
Game over!

Question 1. With 2nd and 7 at the defense's 32-yard line, the quarterback drops back to pass. The receiver is airborne near the sideline when he receives and has firm control of the ball. He would have landed inbounds at the defense's 18-yard line, but a defender knocks him across the sideline so that he first touches out of bounds. The clock reads 2:00 left in the game.

The defender is Janzen Jackson. A launching call leads to a 15 yard personal foul against the defense. The WR has unfortunately passed away. Prayers for he and his family.

4 makes no sense. Defensive holding past 5 yards is a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down.
