Apparently you can't breathe on a player without it being a foul. The pussification of America continues into basketball season. I'm guessing a pushing call will now be referred to as 'bullying' immediately causing the player to get ejected. Refs suck. I wish the refs and the people who never played sports that determine the rule changes would form a circle and headbutt each other. End rant. Now back to the game.

#0 and the guy with the goggles are equally hurting us

I guess when you can't get in the halo zone of those guys without a fatazz choking on their whistle they eventually will 'hurt' you. Reminds me of playing pick up ball with the kid that calls foul every play.

It's not refs, they playing terrible d#, missing easy basket, & shooting too much 3 in first half. Therefore Vols ruining their game...

These new rules are going to make for a tough season for guys like Stokes and Maymon.

They were very inconsistent, I prefer to let them play. It outrages me when the refs do not stay consistent during the whole game. Like this one for instance . . . .

If they called the 1st half like the did the second half both teams would have been fouled out. They let them play the 1st and blew the whistle if someone looked at another player the wrong way in the second. Have to be more consistent. Poor Job by the refs. Also by Coach Martin though. Not impressed with his style at all.

Vols stunk it up tonight, but I totally agree on the "new rules". Like the Lady Vols game against MTSU, the new rules are really, really stupid & ruining the game. Rules, gruels, fools all are becoming anathema for football & basketball contests. Dominoes, anyone?

Keep drinking that NCAA kool aid. You aren't going to muddy this down. It wasn't just in the UT vs Xavier game tonight either. I watched UK vs MSU. Same nonsense. It's going to be a glorified free throw exhibition in college basketball this year. That should be great for viewership.

Don't get it confused with football. There is no reason a bunch of contact should be allowed on the perimeter.

I was just watching a recap of the KY-MSU game, and Jalen Rose said that he liked the new rule change and that "he didn't see many fouls or charges and it seemed that they let them play." What "new" rules were they using for our game!? At times it was absurd.

I will say that we still should have beat Xavier by 10. It is not the officials fault that we lost. It angers me to see a select few change the games that we all have come to know and love. We as fans need to start speaking up! Just because the average score of games last year was down does not mean we need to change the rules to favor offensive production. *coughcough*NFL

I'm cool with taking away the hand checking stuff. But if 2 players happen to bump attempting to get to the same spot on the floor a no call is the best option here. And don't get me started with some of the lame calls against Maymon and Stokes in the post. Stokes got hit with one foul when the offensive player was attacking the basket and he jumped straight up with his arm raised to defend the shot. The offensive player initiated contact. Again, a no call should have been the call here. People pay to watch a game not old refs or a free throw shooting exhibition. They destroy the flow of the game by calling tic tac fouls.

It's gotten way ahead of a bunch of contact. The new rules have been ingrained in the officials' mind so much, that they seem to be calling fouls without contact at times. They anticipate that contact will occur and jump on their whistle. That used to happen on occasion around the basket where contact is inevitable, but it's now happening 25-30 from the basket with the new rules. It's a bad change IMO.

Make your stinking free throws and none of this matters, because we would have won the game!!!

That's cool for last nights game. But the issue is bigger than one game and whether UT wins or not. It takes away from the game when a person either can't play defense making it a glorified And 1 contest or a free throw shooting exhibition. Both being unwatchable IMO.
