I do not want to hear about the refs costing us the game this time. They missed calls on both sides. we just got out coached (3rd qtr calls) and played all night. On the bright side, it is still a huge improvement over last year!:good!:

It is an improvement, especially at quarterback.

The defense just surprised me, by not being able to adjust. They had guys wide open. just not the best game.

i disagree they cost us the game on that crappy roughing call. it just would have been a case where the better team didn't win.:eek:k:

We still had our chances to win that game....................

The refs did not cost us the game ... agreed. I am not sure but I believe any hit to the QB's head... regardless if it was intentional, regardless how hard it is... even a love pat.... is a penalty. Anyhow we all hear enough of this "refs cost us the game" stuff.

We weren't outcoached. It wasn't that the D couldn't "adjust" in the second half, they couldn't RUN! They were tired, lost their legs. If you were on the field for 36 mins of the game, you'd be tired too. Our lack of depth got us... but it wouldn't have if we had a RUNNING game.

I agree completely, although I'll admit that I was confused by our management of the game on our last posession after the grounding call.

In fact, I thought some pretty clever coaching gave a team that got whipped at the line of scrimmage all night a good chance to win. The WR pass was a perfect call in a perfect situation that I'll bet came out of many hours of film study, and the pooch kick after the PF gave us another chance for a score that we squandered.

It also helps to know exactly how close your kicker needs to be to make a feild goal.

the refs? come on...the UF guy took out 2 Vol defenders and they scored and it came back on a bogus clip call. we can go back and forth all day on refs. UT has benefitted against UF on calls overall bigtime. can we just make better coaching hires and decisions, recruit better players, execute better? if we hang our hat on the ref thing it will just be a constant string of excuses with no improvement in wins.

Not sure where you get that.

What about the punt return for a td that was called back on a very questionable call

I was in attendance and saw the block in the back/clipping, whatever you want to call it. It did happen and from what I have heard from people that were watching it on TV they didn't show the right replay and called it on the wrong player. There indeed was a block in the back/clip on the play, that I am 110% sure.

to be completely honest i couldn't see. i was at the goal line on the other end. i can tell you that the call on leak was terrible. pretty soon we are going to have to put flags on the QB's it is getting to be a joke.

the refs didn't cost us the game because we still had chances to win, BUT... I will argue that the roughing the passer call was bogus and that could have totally changed the game. i think it would have put us up by 10 at that point, not to mention the momentum would have definetely pointed ut's way

I was there as well, and it was a block in the back. I saw it immediately, so i knew it was coming back before he even got to the end zone. my parents watched it on tv, and they said they couldn't tell, but i agree, there was for sure a block in the back - right call.

The blow to the head of Leak wasn't "bogus" as you contend. The fact is, we got beat in the trenches. Two touchdowns were negated by flags. One for each team, for you to contend that we lost momentum completley ignores the fact that they just had a TD called back.

Leak was hit in the head, period. Rules are rules, deal with it.

Well you are 110% wrong the player the penalty was called on did not block our guy in the back. His head was in front of the player

I think the ref threw that flag because he expected a block in the back when the return man cutback.

I am not complaining about the call on us, but as far as the flag on the punt return goes, I sit on the end where that punt was fielded. I never saw a block in the back but the ref completely missed a hold right where he caught the ball around the 14 or 15 I think. It allowed the returner to turn the corner for sure.

1. It was a cut block at least... And failing that, any special teams player ought to listen to his coach. If you think you can see the other guys numbers, don't block him.

2. Like everybody else said, our lines got pushed around. You lose the lines, you lose the game.
