I can't say how thrilled we are to currently have the unanimous #1 recruiting class in the nation. It simply feels great

That said, is it simply a talented group of players, or do they seem to be of a system? Or better put, do our current recruits come from a background of spread type offenses and 4-3 defenses that CBJ is accustomed to? The catastrophe last year was only escalated by the fact that 4-3 type players were stuck in a 3-4, and I'm curious how our current commits backgrounds correlate with what CBJ is trying to put together.

Obviously butch gets it and knows what he's doing, but how does our current pool of commits fit together scheme-wise?

I think for the most part, the players that are committed are versatile. I don't think scheme or anything like that has to do with these guys committing. For the most part they understand they'll be ima lot of systems throughout their college and pro careers. It's about being a fundamentally sound player and develop skills to be a talented player, as well as developing into great men and being a part of something special. That's what Butch is really selling.

His OL recruiting seems to be system driven.

As great as it seems right now though... I want to see how it ends. The star avg of this class so far is pretty much in line with what Dooley did and what Fulmer did on avg. It is a good sign that he is getting and taking commits early. To me, that indicates he's getting who he wants and not who's left.

Idk.. A beast of a running back, some head hunting linebackers and safety's, the kids committed are built to win. The 3* players we have committed have offers from similar type offense's/defense's like CBJ runs (WV-AU-Some Otha motha's)j/k. But yeah, we're par for the course as of now, just need to add some Dt's & Olineman

Another brick in the wall....22 bricks...I would expect this group to be around a while...CBJ uses athletic ability as a facet of talent... Great athlete with questionable character (thugs r us )=Florida (bammer for that matter even Candy is getting into that scene).

In 2 or 3 years we're going to be damn hard to pass on with the DB's we're bringing in and the depth at those positions should be great too.

VFL...#BrickbyBrick...GBO!!!

As long as Butch Jones's coaching on the field is as good as his recruiting off the field, we will be just fine. But we have yet to see the coaching part on the field.

Jones has the perfect opportunity to prove he's a real coach because his team this year wont be very good. If he can reach up an snatch a win from Bama/Oregon/Florida/Georgia/USC and simultaneously not lose to a team we have no business losing to then I will feel very good about the future of the program.

Butch has a case history of identifying and developing OL prospects with Mahoney...we might not see immediate first year results with a lot of our signees but with a red shirt year under Lawson, players like Kendrick and Weisman will be stalwarts...another poster brought this point up....Chris Weathered was a wtf commitment very early....now he's a WANT for a lot of teams....Butch gets em...and IT...early

:hi: :eek:k:

Mahoney has produced a few draft picks on the oline. Him and Stripling are proven developers.
