Reggie Cobb hopes................

Interesting... pretty impressive that we haven't had consecutive losing seasons since 1910-11.

1989 was pretty magical when we had the Cobb/Webb combo.

And in '89, we answered the bell and won 11 games." - Reggie Cobb

Not to nitpick, but ole Reggie stopped answering the bell about midway through the season. :shakehead:

foster/coker combo coming this fall

i think coker will show everyone why he was the #2 prospect at RB in the nation two years ago. He looked good last year in scrimmages, except for holding onto the ball.

Some of those comments by Cobb are a little weird. It's like both he and the writer of the story have amnesia or something.

Not to keep beating on Reggie Cobb, but isn't it just a little journalistically lazy not to even slightly mention what happened to him?
I was thinking the same thing. However, the guy has done a remarkable job of turning his life around and the vast majority of people reading the article already know the story. For those who saw my earlier post in this thread before it was deleted, I apologize. It was an unnecessary shot at a good guy. It is exceptionally hypocritical for me to call anyone out for their conduct in college.

I agree. I didn't bring it up to beat up on Reggie Cobb. I just found it a little strange that the writer 1) Went to Cobb of all people to talk about the 1989 season; 2) Never even slightly mentioned what happened.

I see the point he is making. He's just not the guy I expected to be making the point.

Well, if he were looking for guys who played a key role on both the '88 and '89 teams, Reggie would be one of the first people you would call. Webb, Pickens, and Kelly didn't play in '88.

That's true.

Reggie was a great player. It's too bad for his career that he made the decisions he did. Cobb-Webb was awesome to watch.

It is good to see Reggie has gotten his life back together, though.

I also agree with his remarks. It would be great to see that big of a turnaround this year. I don't see it, though.

That '88 team won 5 in a row to end the season. They had some momentum coming into the next year.

This year's team has nothing coming into the season.

I think this team lost a lot more players then that team did. The whole front 7 D and 4 of 5 offensive lineman are gone. Going to be a lot of young players, I didn't see a lot of upcoming players in those areas getting a lot of playing time last year.

Hopefully that #1 recruiting class we brought in a couple of years ago is ready to blossom.

Alot of people have had bumps along the way.The question is do you learn from those mistakes.Apparently Cobb did because he did come back and graduate and stayed out of the news.

The first half of that season was BRUTAL to watch. I think that was the year we played Washington State at home. I left early in the 3rd (we were getting pounded) and headed to the Smokeys. Best game day decision I ever made :biggrin2:
