Butch Jones is a motivator. We have three very important games left and Tennessee will at least two of those and make a bowl game. I can't believe some of you have thrown in the towel for this season already. For crying out loud we beat a South Carolina team that had no business losing to us. When I went to the Spring Game back in April I honestly thought Tennessee would be lucky to win 3 games. Think about the strides we've made since then. For those of you saying that it's not a talent issue, I hae news for you it. These are Dooleys players-a terrible recruiter who couldn't coach, and most of them don't fit into Butch's system. These seniors care. They will make a bowl game and Butch will use the seniors to help motivate the team to at least 6 wins. Don't lose faith. Be patient and Go Vols.

If we can continue playing well at Neyland we can give Auburn all they want plus more. I'm excited to see how the teams responds next weekend.

If you thought we would be lucky to win 3 games with a schedule that includes Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, and Kentucky, then you really are a pessimistic guy lol

We haven't thrown in the towel, the players have.

They did tonight but this ain't the Dooley Era despite players that get Dooley-down when we start to get behind the 8 ball. They'll show up against Aubie. Problem will be Aubie has good running game and that's been an issue all year. O-line play was just inexplicable. No reason for the mental mistakes but they ARE a good line despite the piss poor performance.

Butch Jones is a motivator...

Then he failed at that role. The team that played Mizzou was in Misery instead of Missouri. They did not want to be there.

The momentum that came out of the USC game is gone. It's time to find it and get it back.

EVERYBODY understood that we had NO depth.......We all knew that walk-ons were playing at the start of the season...Did you not expect that fact to rear it's ugly head....It literally will be brick by painful brick for a while....Do not expect miracles......GO VOLS

Unfortunately one of by-products of an extremely passionate fan base is the lack of patience...with an extremely close game at GA and a win at SC a lot of folks quickly forgot the depths that our program has fallen....in the short term it is going to be about the journey....not the destination.

They are Dooleys players during the blow outs and Jones' players during the wins.

Seems to be a bit of a sliding scale on this issue here at VN.

Why is it that no one here seems to see this?

Yes Worley was so good the staff started Peterman in our 1st conference game then stuck with him far too long...only then to re-insert Worley back into the lineup. This staff has terribly mismanaged the QB position all season long and the offense in general has been an absolute disaster. Bajakian has been a head-scratcher thus far. I hope Butch sends him packing.

I also like the "Butch doesn't run the players down" like Dooley did. In reality he does, he just softens it more than Dooley did.

I like Jones

Some of his assistants, not so much

He needs to fish or cut bait

Bajakian has been pretty well attached to the hip to Jones for a decade now.

He isn't going anywhere and I don't think his play calling is the issue as much as personnel on offense.

Worley isn't a good QB and Smith is a terrible receiver at the SEC level.

The fact that either of them have gotten significant snaps speaks to the lack of depth or the sheer stubbornness of the staff. I think it's a little of both.

On the defensive side, I have never had faith in taking on some guys that weren't good enough for Richt.

This defense, talent level down or not, just keeps making the same bone headed, stupid plays over and over again.

It's not too much to ask for the safeties to know where they are supposed to be 9 games into a season.

Ridiculous unnecessary blanket criticism. Way to make out like you're a genius and everyone else is blind or just dumb compared to you.

Worley isn't starting now because he's hurt and had hand surgery. Before that he was starting. You're derision is pointless except to express your perception of superiority.

And Dobbs is NOT the main problem in the game last night. For a true Frosh playing a top 10 team on national TV on the road, he was fine. Flashes of rookie intermixed with flashes of a great future. Unfortunately his receivers will only catch balls that wedge themselves in the facemask so hard that hands aren't actually required. And that all world NFL O-Line got embarrassed. And the coaches, although no doubt very good coaches, seem to have a major weakness for game planning, preparation and motivation when playing on the road. At home they go balls out, on the road they go man-gina and get all scared and timid.

we would have won possibly had we been able to finish drives. we had a freshman playing.

im still in amazement that dooley left the cupboard that bare. as hyams said this morning "im in amazement that dooley never recruited on a friday night". it shows.

what an *******.

To back up my point about Dobbs not being the main issue against Mizzou:

"In his first career start at Tennessee, Josh Dobbs finished 26-42 for 240 yards, but turned the ball over three times. The freshman also had a team-high 45 yards rushing, including a 33-yard scamper, which is the longest run by a Tennessee quarterback since Tee Martin in 1999.

With his 26 completions, Dobbs broke Tyler Bray’s record (18) for the most by a true freshman in his first career start. His 42 attempts were also a record for a freshman debut, topping Erik Ainge’s mark of 35 against Auburn in 2004."

Note in that article that Dobbs was the leading rusher in the game for UT. Neal, underused Lane, and that world beater O-Line couldn't manage 50 yards. Total.

This ain't about the QB.

Nothing against this poster, because it is actually a forum that I like and a subject that u can speak on...Living in Ky, I am not able to do a lot of Vol talk, so it should be nice to come in here, talk, and get a little love for our team and my school, but Vol Nation is very frustrating and hard to find anything encouraging..Yes the team looked terrible last night, but as I said after the SC win, these kids really try hard to give their all for Tn..Instead of looking at the positives, the forum always see so negative...As soon as their is an incomplete pass or mistake, so many ppl here are asking for a change..Ppl in here are always comparing our school to the turn around in Alabama, and that too is so not far...Let's be real, if you have a program that has as many coaching changes as we have over the last 10 years, u will get a program like we have now..You can never compare us to Ala, Georgia or Florida when looking to rebuild, because UT is in the state of Tennesse..What those other schools have is a recruiting pool of high school talent, and if we get the best recruits from our state, what u see now, is what u will always have..Look at the superstars we bring out of the Knoxville area..Can u say if we had a whole team of guys of that caliber, we would not be last 2 teams in the east, each and every year..I believe in Butch's Brick by Brick pledge..The only way u will be able to fairly judge this coach or the staffers he has is in his 4th season..No matter how good your players are (which most of ours, are not) is to have the players that fit your system..Sure we all get frustrated because no one wants to lose, but I feel this team has heart and will continue to fight, which is what a coach should be judged by..We are very young, and the players that are supposed to be our leaders, have been on losing teams since they arrived in Knoxville..They can't help to teach these young guys how to fight back, when they themselves haven't won but a couple of SEC games each year..I can't say what a "real fan" is, or say because this or that poster only post negative comments is a real, but when u are talking about how losing are going to effect rather we keep some recruits or not, I say that in the day of social media, the way u come down on our team, week after week, hurts our recruiting process, just as much...You don't think that after kids give their verbal commit, they don't get access to Vol Nation? I do know I am a real fan because despite my frustration, I am pulling for this school and this team, week after week..And although I live in Ky and have to drive 3 hrs to Knoxville, I will be in the stadium for the Auburn game, as well as Vandy..So if u are one of those that go to support this team, raise some hell when frustrated..But If u are anywhere near Knoxville, and the 3 games I will attend this year is more than you, try to be a little more quiet, and let us that support, keep doing so..

Dooley recruited some very good players. However, the majority of the ones who counted are playing in the nfl right now. It would've been a complete different story if Bray, Patterson, and Hunter were on the field yesterday.
