Reid - Private Sector Jobs are Doing Just Fine

Some data for Harry.

First - public sector jobs - notice the huge spike with the Stimulus and comparison to before the recession

Bureau of Labor Statistics Data

Now lets look at the private sector

Bureau of Labor Statistics Data

By any conceivable analysis the private sector job situation is much worse than the public sector.

Except that Joe Biden believes rapes and murders will go up if the Jobs bill isn't passed...

Joe has the excuse of being perpetually drunk. Reid has no such help.

perhaps he took a few too many blows to the head when he was a boxer

imagine if the Nevada GOP had been able to nominate a competent competitor in 2010

The Tea party blew the chance to get rid of Reid, just about any competent candidate would have beat him.

Because I'm bored, here's some numbers from the BLS.

Using Jan 1 2008 as a baseline - public sector jobs are down 1.8% although they actually rose 2.7% from the Stimulus.

Private sector jobs are down 5.5%

Both in relative and absolute magnitude, private sector jobs are in far worse shape - of course, they don't involve as many unions so they aren't as important as public sector jobs...

He was beaten until he called on his union allies. They cajoled and twisted arms.

Interesting that even guys as normally discerning as you are throw stones at people for not being polished, professional politicians.

We say we want people to be honest and transparent then when they are... we call them incompetent.

Angle was a bad candidate. I have no doubt that Reid wasn't above using dishonest means to "get out the vote", but that doesn't change the fact that you had a political neophyte challenging one of the post powerful politicians in the country.

But that begs the question of what makes a "good" candidate.

I think Angle just looked and talked funny.... my take. I think image IS important and it hurt her.

My main point is still that we complain about the political class and empty suits... but then continue to reward those who hide behind a crafted veneer while punishing those who aren't polished. If we keep rejecting "real" people and rewarding frauds... what will we get?

How 'bout that stimulus spending? As for the stability the Fed supposedly brings about....

Considering that Bush's tax cuts also had to overcome a significant attack on US soil and the beginning of an overseas conflict... that compares pretty well.

The Reagan and JFK supply side solutions also made for very shallow dips and quick recoveries.

The rest of the graph demonstrates that doing "nothing" is vastly preferrable to the Keynesian "all in" approach used by Obama and the Congressional Dems.

It is also interesting to me that as tax rates have gone down and stayed down... recessions have become less frequent especially if you count 80 and 81 as one instead of two.

When the federal reserve act was passed back in
1913, it was supposed to bring about financial
stability.

It did not do that, we had a crisis as early as
1922, Taft (as well as Truman, Kennedy and
Reagan) did the opposite of what Obama is
doing today as did FDR who took us deeper
and deeper into recession/depression and the
only way out was war.

That is the prime reason that we need to get
rid of Obama ASAP.

You all are forgetting that as a Democrat you don't have to say anything with any truth in it. Just make some stupid sh!t up as you go. Most of the ignorant leeches of society that make up a huge portion of the Democratic voting bloc don't pay attention to any of that stuff anyways. They are just voting to keep their tax payer checks coming in the mail.

Don't think that leeches and dems are mutually exclusive. There are plenty or Reps who eat children.

Ok, I agree I'm making a huge generalization but let's be honest, if you go into the ghetto how many of those people who are on welfare are going to tell you they vote republican (if they even vote)?

I'd be surprised if you found one.
