For those of you who aren't fully updated on where we stand with recruiting, I thought I would make a summary post of who is left on the board. Who is likely, who we are competing with and what our close could be.

We have 3 or 4 spots left in this class and 5 or so elite players that we are down to the final 2 or 3 schools left. This class is going to be really nice when all is said and done. Here are our top uncommitted prospects left.

S - 4* Top 100 player - Nigel Warrior visiting this weekend, Dale Carter's son, Bama, UGA and Auburn have all been in the thick of it and thought to lead at one point or the other, but we've come on strong down the stretch and pretty much have this one wrapped up heading into this weekend. Big Time Need!

CB - 4* top 100 Player - Tyler Byrd (Miami Commit) Has been a Miami commit for a long time. But Richt is letting this one slip away to Butch like old times. He lives with our RB commit Fils-Aime and his primary recruiter at Miami is our TE coach Larry Scott. He is visiting this weekend with F-A and will be on high flip alert!

Tyler Byrd - Yahoo! Sports

DT - 5* Top 20 player - Derrick Brown - This one is a little less likely than the first two. He has been a UGA lean for a long time but with Richt leaving it opened the door. Auburn and TN have always been a close 2nd and 3rd. He visited Auburn 2 weeks ago, UGA last weekend and is taking his last official to UT this weekend. Big to have last visit as he and his parents seem wowed after everyone. This would be a big shock to pull him over Auburn and UGA but it is very possible.

OL - 4* Top 50 player - Landon Dickerson - He is down to us and FSU. He is visiting this weekend as well and many said him coming AGAIN is a great sign for TN. We are closer than FSU but they have been his longtime favorite school. I give us a 45% shot but that could change with an amazing official visit.

JUCO DE - 5* #1 Juco - Jonathan Kongbo - Former commit to the Vols. Got Bama, USC, FSU major offers and decided to open it back up to make sure he was making right call. He is visiting So Cal and FSU down the stretch as we used our official back in October which got his commitment. His family lives in Vancouver so they want him on West Coast. But his family is from the Congo and our other LB/DE commit Daniel Bituli's parents are from the same area in the Congo and their Dad's have hit it off and he said he will watch over his son. Gives us a shot. I would predict USC here but Butch still has his in home visit left.

IF we land 3 or 4 of these 5 we've closed with the best recruiting finish since Fulmer's 90s classes.

I don't think we will do that and I think you may see us get 2 or 3 of the above and one of these "back up" plans below.

4* DT - Chris Daniels - Just OVed last weekend from Texas and Texas schools are involved but we are in hunt.

3* WR - Latrell Williams - Late blooming speedy WR, not sure if we want another WR or not but he is visiting this weekend

3* DE - JaQuan Bailey - Visited last weekend and wanted to commit coaches wouldn't let him yet.

I like the list, but I don't think Chris Daniels is on the backup plan. If he wants a spot, it's his.

Thanks for posting. I'm too cheap to buy into these recruiting pay sites. It just seems stupid to pay for something I'm going to know all out on signing day.

This is one of the most anticipated finishes to a recruiting class in a very long time. I try and keep up with recruiting each year. If it's possible to add 4 to this class my list would be Warrior, Brown, Dickerson, and Byrd. The excitement is building to a great finish. Oh, and thanks to Ericvol for the info.

Why do we feel we have Warrior "wrapped up"?

His dad is Dale Carter. He has been very open minded but many feel he is leaning towards the orange as his recruitment is coming to the end of the road.

Many thought Bama was our biggest competition and after his OV this weekend it has been reported their coaches don't feel confident on him.

Thanks for the breakdown...i only come over here this time of the year to see where we are, other than the occasional peek when someone commits during the year...

I leave the rest to the sharks in this tank who have a taste for this stuff year-round. I think some of you watch those Housewives shows, too...with some of the drama that goes on in here...

Your thread is appreciated for us 'Cliff Notes' folks.

Why do we feel we have Warrior "wrapped up"?

Bama recruiting site guy not sure if it was Rivals or 247 said Warrior is a Vol. They were the main competition. Our guys like Hubbs etc would never say that if he were a silent because they are supposed to respect the recruits privacy but a Bama guy who knows he gone might ruin the surprise like that, so good sign basically.

Been a couple weeks since we've gotten a commit. I know the 30th is a bigger weekend than the 23rd, but anyone sum up how last weekend went for us? I was hoping to open VN on Mon & see a commit announced. Iirc however, many of the visitors last weekend were already committed.

In years past, we always had "Big Fish" stories. Are there any this year? A top secret flip that is keeping silent? His aunt works as a barber in Knoxville and has told people that he has secretly committed to U.T.? None of those stories this year?????????

Seems like I read last year after signing day that the coaches like to keep a lot of the blue shirt talk quiet due to the possibility of opposing teams swooping in at the last minute, or something to that effect. That said, we have as many as six possible blue shirts from last year that are counters in this class: Perry, Lovingood, RDA IV, Oliver, Bruce, and Stewart. If all those dudes count, the 2016 number would obviously be 19.

Now I've yet to see someone provide a definitive answer as to whether or not we have to count Bruce or Oliver. According to the blue shirt rule as I read it, I don't think Jones should have to count either of them and that he would have a legitimate beef if they tried to make him.

I haven't seen anyone satisfactorily explain why we couldn't count Stewart in the 2017 class if need be either. I also wonder if Stewart's decision to arrive in the summer rather than in the spring didn't have more to do with having the flexibility to count him in either class. This would be a situation coaches might want to keep on the down low so other team's won't start coming after him. If Jones was willing to take a 2017 spot to blue shirt Hart, it defies logic to say he wouldn't do the same for Stewart in order to free up a spot for a Dickerson, Byrd, or Kongbo.

By subtracting Bruce and Oliver and counting Stewart in the 2017 class, that would allow for 22 in the 2016 class, meaning 5 spots remain. Due largely to Jones's outstanding finish last year and this outstanding line up of recruits making their final OV's in Knoxville this week, I'm going to go ahead and shoot for the moon...

Warrior
Brown
Byrd
Kongbo
Dickerson

If we strike out on Brown or Kongbo, I think we get Jaquan Bailey. If we strike out on both Brown and Kongbo, I wouldn't be surprised to see Josh Bailey get an offer to join his brother. Sounds like we made an impression on Daniels, but I think he ends up in Texas. I think Williams or Moss have a spot if something falls through with either Warrior, Byrd, or Dickerson. If only 4 of those mentioned here want in, then Stewart counts in 2016 class. The only scenarios where I can see us having only 3 spots left is if they've made us count either Bruce or Oliver, there is another counter nobody has mentioned, they're holding a spot for at least one silent (unlikely), or the 85 roster limit has come into play.

EDIT: Joe Young may be a counter. That still leaves the potential for as many as 4 spots, and any 4 of Warrior, Brown, Byrd, Kongbo, or Dickerson would be a phenomenal finish.

Nice work.
I'm feeling a little more optimistic on your top 5, but either way, it's a great feeling to be in this kind of position again...been too long.
