Remember Mike Gundy?

He did himself a favor. It ultimately took a special coach to succeed at TN and Gundy made a good career coaching at his Alma mater.

That being said, what do we care about this reporter? One could apply the same article to Josh Heupel and the context would be just as true, as we always have “fans” mocking the football coach. There’s not substance to this story.

I’m not sure what you are talking about but Heupel would never respond to criticism by fans the way Gundy has. Telling OK St fans that criticize that they are poor and have terrible lives is not a good move. I don’t think Gundy cares because at this point his coaching career is on a downward path and he gets paid either way.

Someone crossed a line and Gundy stands up for his players. That’s been the case his entire career, or at least since he turned 40. Gundy’s comments are aimed at a specific type of fan and this headline is gaslighting it into something else. I feel sorry for anyone who needs it to be anything more than that.

Guy who flirted with Tennessee football multiple times and maneuvered himself a better contract?

Well his act has worn thin. Hate it for him.
He really needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut. Not saying he is wrong, but on the other side of that coin is the coach that feels the need to respond to those "poor people" publicly. Part of being paid millions to coach a major program is being under the spot light and being subject to scrutiny....i thought he was a 40+ man who could take it?

There might not be a more untouchable coach in the country than Gundy; that's including Kirby Smart. He's won at a level there over a long period of time that they are just not used to, plus he's an alum. He's said all sorts of off the wall stuff there over the years; the wildest might have been the Ollie Gordon comments before this season started and nobody cared.

Gundy knows he doesn’t have clueless ADs at Tennessee anymore that he can use to get more money from OK State. Probably mad about that.

Also crazy that we are nearing the end of the season and the two major football schools in the state of Oklahoma have one combined conference win this season. Never thought would see that.

You may be right but those comments were brutal from Gundy. This looks like his worst season since he took over in 2005.
