Since Fall Practice just began, rest assured that somewhere far away, but near Neyland Stadium, TennStud and a whole bunch of his now gone pals are thinking about the upcoming season.

For those who did not know Roy H. Adams, legendary VolFan; or never attended his Saturday football viewing parties (on a couple of dozen 50+inch screens, plus a couple that were as large as the entire wall...and the theater seating... and the food...meats, seafood, veggies, that lasted from about 11-am until 2-am or so...with a couple of hundred folks or more dropping by---

many of them upper crust in the national athletic world---etc, etc, etc...) you missed a unique period of Memphis, TN, Vol fandom.

Here is a video from Roy's Memphis obituary page that is not at all in poor taste to show.

After all he is a legend and was all Vol all the way:

I had the pleasure of spending 1 game day at his place. It was better than can be described.

Just think a museum sports bar with celebrities hanging out with us regular folks.

I had a blast.

Tennessee stud was long and lean color of the sun and his eyes were green... Never was a horse like the Tennessee Stud.

Pizzes me off that the good version of this song isn't available on most Juke Boxes, I do hear it occasionally on SeriusXM.

A lot of people here and on other boards thought Stud was full of crap when he exposed the Albert Means-Logan Young deal but he was dead on right. I never met him face to face but he was a friend to me here on the board. RIP, Stud. We miss you.

Since I live in AL, their fans still believe it was Fulmer who turned them in to the NCAA over the Means illegal recruitment but it was Roy who blew the top off that situation and exposed L. Young as the bag man. Fulmer tried to pile on after the fact is where he got caught up in it all but from what I learned it was Spurrier and H. Nutt, who was at Ole Miss at the time, turned AL in to the NCAA after Roy exposed everything. But make no mistake, Roy was the man who ignited the flame, and enjoyed every minuet of it. A true VFL he is.

TennStud was a legendary poster as well on the old Gridscape site. His insider information was typically spot on. I'll never forget the Albert Means/Alabama rumors that were flying around right before Bama went on probation. Be brought all of that out into the open. I emailed David Climer, the UT beat writer for the Tennessean a link to a thread TennStud had started on Logan Young and Albert Means. Good time to be a Vol in those days!

Pat Washington (UT Assistant Coach) reported it to SEC office in early 1999 (presumably with Fulmer's blessing). As one would expect, the SEC sat on the info and did nothing. Washington hinted that Tim Thompson (Melrose coach) was selling players as well. Eventually other college coaches, Roy Adams, Gary Parrish's reporting got it escalated to NCAA and the rest is history. The tidbit about Tim Thompson got UK in trouble since Tim Thompson got paid to send Dewayne Robertson to UK (the NCAA didnt even investigate David Paine from Melrose to Bama).

Only time I saw Payne, other than @ a couple of Roy's parties, was looking for a lawyer's office in the 6700 block of Poplar Avenue. Do not know why; certainly did not ask. Perhaps he did not stay anywhere long enough for an investigation to mean anything. JMO, course...

I remember hearing or reading somewhere where Spurrier literally called Bama's athletics department and told them if they didn't cut out the illegal recruiting, he was going to turn them in. Now, I dunno if there is any truth to that but it seems I heard that on radio talk in Knoxville in the '04/'05 year.
