Thought I'd post this for anyone looking to disable this feature. Like most, I never asked for this button to be installed and Google went and crammed it down our throats without asking. It's placement isn't ideal either.

Type chrome://flags into your URL line and hit enter.
Press ctrl+f to bring up the "word search" feature.
Type "avatar" into the word search.
Where you see "Enable New Avatar Menu" change it from "Default" to "Disabled".
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Relaunch" button, this closes and reopens Chrome.

This can always be turned back on by following the same steps.

Good info I guess but I see no real reason to hide it.

For me the practical reason for removing it is mostly because several times I've hit that button instead of the minimize button while multitasking. The other reason being I'm never going to use it to "log" into Chrome. That's ultimately what they're going to use that feature for. To "customize" each users "experience".

I don't really use it, but I'm logged into my Google account with it. I've never managed to press the wrong button.

Don't get me started on why you should never sign up for a Google account.

Ah, I never use the minimize button and just alt+tab between applications. Much easier than minimizing and searching for the correct window. To each their own. If I want privacy I know how to get it

Well, for me a lot of the time I'm switching between the browser windows and the desktop.

Oh lawd. Hold on, I'll have to go get some more tin foil.

:)
