Rennia’s tweet...

Rennia has a bad game it happens and we as a team didn't shoot well. We played defense and they didn't shoot that well either. The reason we lost the main reason was they got 30 free throws. They were plus nine from the free throw line in points. We were plus three in field goal points. We actually outscored them 62 to 59 in two and three point field goals. If we keep them off the line we win the game. Shocking to me that they got 30 free throw attempts and some of the foul calls I disagree with totally. I thought they got bailed out by Refs on some very poor shots. When your in a game like this when Refs seem to be whistle happy for one team guess you have to make extra effort to not touch anybody. That thirty free throws they got regardless of any other stat is the glaring one and why we lost this game.

Blaming the refs is a losers mantra.

20+ turnovers and really bad shooting is more the culprit in this loss.

The free throws is telling, the points off of turnovers is the difference in my humble opinion, a 13 point swing in the first half alone, and indicates that we are not getting back on defense after a turnover. Overall, a pretty good game but not what we all wanted.

What a good teammate! Great things lie ahead...

Love this. I could hear them encouraging her. Toward the end of the game Rennia missed two wide open 3s. After the second I saw Kasi look her dead in the eyes and yell “forget about it.” That really is a good teammate. Rennia missed but they know her abilities and they’ve got her back. Glad to see some culture improvement and positivity. It’s going to bleed over into the games eventually.

In this type game with all things bring equal 30 free throws to 15 is why we lost. Whether it was the Refs making some calls they should've ignored or we just fouled to much you can't give a team 30 free throws and the inconsistency of WCCB Refs to calls bumps and player contact moving into a player one way and then call Rennia for a change on a shot is things that are not consistent.

Stir that pot...isn’t your arm tired yet?

Oh please...I didn't say anything in that post that many other posters said.

Every game, and I mean EVERY game refs make bad calls against BOTH teams. We as fans tend to see the ones against our teams more than against the other team. And some games it does go unfairly against the team we root for.

However, good teams overcome that.

Shoot better by only a few percentage points and they win.

The fact that they were plus five on turnovers 20 for us and 15 for them certainly was a factor. I would like to get 30 free throws in a game to an opponents 15 would feel good about the outcome all other things being equal.

Players can't "work the refs"..we coaches have to do that as part of our game plan:

You do this by building an immediate rapport with them before the game and then the probability that they’ll listen to what you have to say during a game instead of shrugging you off. dramatically increases. You do this by asking them a question: “How was your last game?”, “ Did you work with this crew?" , "How’s your day going?”,,, Ask their name. There’s a big difference between…“Ref! Come on, where was the foul?” and “Come on Fred, she's holding my post”.

Compliment them on good calls, whether they go in favor of their team or not. But, NOT on every call. And asking them to watch for something specific.
“Hey Fred, can you watch number 24? She's clearing out my player with that elbow”.
When you bring a potential call to the referee’s attention they WILL start looking for it each time down the court.

Get clarification from the referee on exactly what your player is doing wrong in the referees eyes so that you can tell the player to adjust.

Accept a bad call or two, refs aren't perfect. But if it is obvious that your team is being unfairly over-called and all else fails...A coach's technical foul is a big statement. It shows that you’re very unhappy with how the game is being handled by the referees. This might be a big deal at the end of a close game, but when put into the context of a full game with all the missed shots and 50/50 calls, two free throws isn’t much to risk

This is part of the gamesmanship of a coach (and sometimes the attending fans).
You must work the refs in a badly called game.

The difference is, you bring nothing positive to the board. Almost all posters on here, myself included, bring some negative and some positive. You live for the negative. It’s a sad outlook on life. You disappear for days when there isn’t anything to bash the Lady Vols about. Bet your bottom dollar if there is anything negative to discuss you’re right in the middle of it.

Spot on. Add LV fan bashing to the charges as well.

Not true. I post plenty of positive things. See my posts on the wonderful 2022 recruit.

You'd bet MY bottom dollar? I'd be more impressed if you bet YOUR bottom dollar. And you'd lose.

But as Coach Jumper likes to say, TTFN. You can go back to blaming the refs without my input.

I followed the game on live stats. So no bias by watching or listening. Looking at stats when you shoot the ball as bad as we did your 2 best offensive players shoot 9-32 against a good team there place you usually lose. So seems to me we did some good things as well to be in overtime. So with so many new moving parts 3rd game trying to get a Rhythm and Chemistry built we have a chance to be a really good team top 25 team but it will take patience while they build this team this year. In CHRIST Alone.

I would have to say KJH has successfully completed her first task with the team. She has changed the culture. This post will show dividends in recruiting for the next two years. The environment is one of the important issues for a recruit. It answers the question of are they truly a family environment. I don't think we'll be seeing a rash of transfers for a while.

Culture Foundation is everything for a team. Same as a congregation whose foundation is in CHRIST a Team effort doing HIS Will. In CHRIST Alone.
