Report: Texas A&M Chancellor wants Kevin Sumlin and AD gone

Guess the MCB will be a bust for Nashville

I think it was gonna be a bust to begin with from the SEC perspective. aTm brought a bunch of people up for the Vandy game, those same people probably wouldn't be too keen on returning to the same city less than 2 months later. Miss State would've been a better candidate. Closer but far enough to stay a night or two and pump some money into the economy.

This is why the SEC and PAC 12 need to have a couple bowl tie ins TAM needs to stay in the state of Texas

I think Sumlin will be gone by the end of next year anyway, if they're wanting to fire him this year they will probably wait until after signing day to ensure that they keep the recruits they have as of right now. He's just really not that good of a coach and doesn't have a good SEC offensive scheme.

They already lost a 5star OL commit to Ole Miss just this week - I think they lose more recruits before NSD - I hope CBJ can get that OL away from Ole Miss just like he did with Drew Richmond last year -

For years, several of our fans commented on how we should have hired this guy. Is he that bad? Or just in a bad situation?

He never really had a decent defense until this year and then the offense fell apart -- I wonder if there are internal problems inside the program - 3 QB transfers, look really bad to potential recruits. Losing Murray IMO is the final nail in Sumlin coffin and his buyout is huge - if he is mistreating players he could lose that as well -- the soap opera will probably go on all off season.

Also rumors flying around about aTm OC Jake Spavital as the source of a lot of friction. Apparently Sumlin loves him and a few of the players not so much.

The SEC has now had two shots at placing ATM in the Texas Bowl and balked each time. Odd that the SEC wouldn't chose to put aggy in a bowl game in Houston, aggys largest alumni base. Wasn't aggy accepted to the SEC in order to deliver that market?

It could be the fear that aTm would have lost to Texas (last season) and Tech (this year) and screw up aggys Houston and Golden Triangle recruiting. The big (SEC) winner here is LSU, followed by Bama. They are now plucking the recruits that have traditionally gone to College Station.

Strange happenings indeed. Aggys cross-divisional rival is USCe? Really? Too bad aggy didn't take another BIG XII school with them, a school that would end up in the east. One that could be a cross-divisional rival, one that depended on games in Texas for recruiting. Strange indeed.

This is the spin I'm getting from a lot of aggys about the Texas Bowl..."we've already played there this season". Fact is a) Tech would pack the place out b) losing to coach Bro would cut into their SE Texas recruiting even deeper. Tech wants a HnH with aggy but the sheep humpers are (still) running from losing to BIG XII teams.

If he's fired, look for Larry Fedora? I thought he could be a potential Longhorn target if Charlie Strong flamed out being that he's from Texas. Unfortunate for the Horns that he's from Aggie land. Born in College Station. But... he did play his college football in Austin which is fortunate for the Horns should they find themselves shopping for a coach as well.

I would've put them in the Texas Bowl or Liberty. A fanbase isn't traveling far for a reeling team. The SEC not seeing that is a disservice to the respective bowl. State would've packed Nashville.

I'm thinking they are stuck with Sumlin for at least two more seasons. That's a lot of buyout money for a program that just tapped donors to the tune of $500m for a redo of Kyle Field. IIRC they are still paying off Sherman, Sumlin's buyout will be in the $20m range and Fedora just signed a new seven year deal at UNC. They have paid three HCs before though...Sloccum, Franchione and Sherman. They also had to gut their athletic department and borrow money from the university (still not sure that was legal but Perry was governor then) to stay afloat.

They could go with LF. But Herman would be my guess.

"Texas A&M chancellor John Sharp sharply disputed a Horns Digest report claiming he was looking into firing Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin.

Sharp on Friday night described the report as a “fairy tale” and “completely false” and perhaps “out of the imagination” of the reporter, and suggested maybe someone, or a couple of people, were even misleading the reporter just to mess with him."

Kevin Sumlin is a bigger poser than Dooley was, that get us stealing 5 mil a year for them. They average 8 wins a year under Sumlin, to me that unacceptable given that your in the SEC and your recruiting ground is the biggest and best in America. A&m should be top 5 in recruiting every year and average 10 wins. Can you imagine what Saban could do there?

First of all, folks here shouldn't take much stock in what a fan of any BDF team has to say about A&M...still a lot of butthurt over there since they left the conference. Second, in regards to a prior post from little bear, aggy is a derogatory spelling used to reference an aggie.

As for the aggies financial situation, you are making reference to the situation some 10 or more years ago. They just completed a major facilities expansion and were 4th nationally in attendance this season. They still have oil money on top of that although the oil business is not quite so lucrative these days.

All that said, yes, they screwed themselves by giving Sumlin a guaranteed contract and his buyout will likely get him another year. Sumlin made a mistake by promoting Spav...he is too young and that job has proven to be too big. The QB mismanagement is just a symptom of bigger problems there IMO, I would be very surprised if Sumlin is their coach beyond 2016.

As for the TX bowl, that's just more BDF butthurt. That bowl is one of the lowest in the SEC pecking order and their 8-4 record meant they deserved better. Also understand that the SEC wants to take care of its bowl partners by maximizing hotel stays and such. I doubt you will see A&M in that bowl unless they are 6-6.

LSU (8-3) is going to the Texas Bowl - I wouldnt call them the lowest and they will put on a better game with Fournette
