Report: USC AD Pat Haden Funneled Scholarship Foundation Money To Himself

"
Under Haden’s leadership as board chairman, however, the $25-million foundation became a lucrative source of income for him and two of his family members — even as its scholarship spending plunged to a three-decade low and the size of its endowment stagnated, a Times investigation has found.
Haden, his daughter and sister-in-law together collected about $2.4 million from the foundation for part-time roles involving as little as one hour of work per week, according to the foundation’s federal tax returns for 1999 to 2014, the most recent year available.
Half of that, about $1.2 million, went to Haden. His annual board fees have been as high as $84,000; the foundation paid him $72,725 in 2014."

Haden may be in some deep DooDoo

Wow indeed. Whether he's in trouble or not, his reputation is forever ruined if this bears out.

USC program looking sleazier and sleazier every time a coach or AD changes out. WHERE ARE THE MEN AND WOMEN OF CHARACTER TO STRAIGHTEN THINGS OUT??!?

Oh, wait. Okay. Yep. Well, I'm being informed that USC is, in fact, in California. Never mind, the problem becomes evident.

This guy has been painted as a saint in college football and a man of integrity. Turns out he's a criminal.

Bet Pete Carroll is laughing.

Wow: Shocked that Haden, Mr. Integrity, acted in such a sleazy way. Disgraceful. Paying his daughter handsomely--and I doubt she did much in the way of demanding work. And all the while the foundation's donations were dwindling. One third of its donations were used to pay the directors. Sleazy. Unethical.

If he did this smart he will have no legal issue. While morally disgusting he very well may have just taken advantage of a situation.
Boards and foundations have to be careful and take their fiduciary responsibilities more serious.
