Their excuse is that these are procedural raises that are 'automatic'. Well none of them really bothered to stand up and stop it. It must be nice to be GUARANTEED at least a COLA match pay raise every year. While wages are stagnant and the economy slows down, these guys guarantee themselves automatic raises. I think I might run for Congress. They're only working some 90 odd days in session this year. And they get perks and travel paid for.
