It's sort of boring in here today. Let's get going.

• 39% of Republicans want President Obama to be impeached.

• 63% think Obama is a socialist.

• Only 42% believe Obama was born in the United States.

• 21% think ACORN stole the 2008 election.

• 53% think Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to be president.

• 23% want to secede from the United States.

• 73% think gay people should not be allowed to teach in public schools.

• 31% want contraception to be outlawed.

Are you saying that Palin, as well as others, are more qualified or that others, not including Palin, are more qualified?

The Daily Kos. They have a strong reputation of running accurate, unbiased polls and their website is frequented by a large, representative population of Republicans.

The poll was actually done by Research 2000 and I included a link to the actual poll questions so you can see exactly what was asked. It wasn't a poll of KOS readers. :)

Well, I appreciate the full disclosure, then. Personally, I don't give a flip about polls because I don't trust them. I don't find them to be reliable predictors of people's opinions.

But to each his own.

i cant accept that poll, almost all my republican friends would disagree with every thing in that poll. But this did provide alittle laugh in a satirical kind of way

You're advocating a poll that says 39% of Republicans want Obama impeached? Weak.

Wonder if they asked what for?

At the bottom of the poll page I linked to it lists their methods, etc. Are they faulty?

The Daily Kos Republican Poll was conducted by Research 2000 from January 20 through January 31, 2010. A total of 2003 self identified Republicans were interviewed nationally by telephone. Those interviewed were selected by the random variation of the last four digits of telephone numbers, nationally.

The margin for error, according to standards customarily used by statisticians, is no more than plus or minus 2% percentage points. This means that there is a 95 percent probability that the "true" figure would fall within that range if the entire self identified Republican population were sampled. The margin for error is higher for any demographic subgroup, such as for gender or region.

Am not wasting the time to look. That's a garbage number, trick questions or they interviewed blithering idiots (read: cooky Christian Coalition nuts who don't count because they aren't representative).

Frankly, I don't see how 2003 randomly selected people can be considered to be representative of some hundred and some odd million people.

It doesn't make intuitive sense. But that's about the size of gallup's poll groups from what I remember.

Then don't complain about it.

Go read the questions and see if they're trick questions. I provided the link to the questions that were asked.

So, let's see if I'm feelin' y'all...

• 53% think Governor Palin is more qualified than President Obama to be president.

The cheerleader who took 4 different colleges to complete her degree and then quit her job as Alaska's governor when things got tough is more qualified to be President of the United States than the fellow who was raised in difficult circumstances, worked his way through Princeton and Harvard Law, where he was President of the Harvard Law Review (top honor in the school) who then went to work as a community organizer in Southside Chicago, then worked as a lecturer in Constitutional Law at University of Chicago (a noted center for conservative thought in this country for more than 50 years, by the way).

REALLY???

Let's see the same survey done of Democrats RE: George Bush - I bet the numbers look similarly skewed.

So what's the story here?

I seriously don't want Palin to be president but to tout Obama's qualifications is pushing it. What does he being raised in "difficult cirmcumstances" (whatever the heck that means) have to do with anything? Do you know if his circumstances were any more difficult than Palin's?

He is certainly more educated. However, he's never managed anything until now. Neither one is high on the qualification list.

Touting them incorrectly doesn't help either.
