It's really not high risk if they frontload the contract. They have $30M in cap they weren't using. If they frontload it, they remove the cap risk (which is really the only risk that matters, money is not a problem for the owners).

I get why they did it. In addition to playing Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan twice each, they're also going to be seeing Tom Brady, Matt Stafford and Colin Kaepernick this season. That's over half the season where they'll be seeing solid-excellent QBs. Gotta swing for the fences with a shutdown corner.
