Will he be our best 3pt shooter since Lofton? And can he get to the rim better than Hopson (when Hopson had his good games like vs Pitt, not the other lazy Hopson)?

His three point shooting will be interesting to see, I expect around 38-40% take that how you will.

As far as getting to the rim I think he'll be the best we've had in a LOOONG time.

I about sh*t myself when I read this from his coach...he said there's not many guys who can stick their arm in the rim and also shoot!

Wow I wish he could EE like Stokes! I'm so excited for him to be here! That's like some Vince Carter type of dunking :)

Will be the bester finisher to play at Tennessee possibly ever. His three point shooting is very good but, not elite. However, he will get a lot of open looks at the three point line for two reasons. One he moves without the ball and runs off screens very well. Two defenses will have to sag when in a zone to keep him out of the lane. With that being said people saw at TBA how capable he is at shooting 3's when not contested. Just my 2 cents.

What I'm saying though is I don't want another Scotty, he was an athletic freak like Hubbs, but his work ethic sucked. Do you know how Hubbs' is?

The bar is set pretty low. We have not been a great 3 point team since Lofton and Jajuan.

That said, from what I've read, Hubbs 3-point shooting is not his strength.

His 3 point shooting doesn't need to be elite, just respectable. Like orangelo said, guys will have to sag otherwise hell be driving and dunking all night...when guys sag and you can pull up wide open, you're % are usually pretty good. As long as he can hit those shots at a good clip he will be very hard to defend.

I know it's been discussed, but do the two new recruits start for us early on? Hubbs and Davis that is.

Scotty's problem while driving was his handle (and he'd let a charge call get to his head and mess him up for the remainder of the night). If Hubbs can do a good job of protecting the ball, he'll already have a leg up on Hopson.

Hubbs is very comparable to Hopson. I would say that Hubbs is a better overall shooter, but he probably won't be as explosive and strong as Hopson. That's not to say that he can't take it to the hole...he can and will

No need to compare RH to Scotty, as tempting as that is. Scotty was one of the most frustrating players I've ever loved and hated at the same time. He was a special case. Could never get his mind right. Let's hope that's the exception and not the rule. Hubbs has a chance to be SPECIAL.

More explosive than Hopson, and I'd venture to say stronger.

Let Hubbs be Hubbs...not Scotty 2.0. I venture a guess that we are much happier about Hubbs's 1-2 years here.

You are the only one that's gonna hate on Hopson in this thread, bro. Have fun talking to yourself.

I liked Hopson...if you read my posts. I just don't see what Hubbs has to do with him?

And seriously? You can't be more respectful than that? We are friends here. This isn't the football forum.

Scotty was the only player on the top 10 of the 2008 recruiting class to not make it to the league. So frustrating...but good news is Tobias started a new streak for us with McDonald's AA's making it into the league and Hubbs is going to continue it :)

Edit: and Nichols!

Speaking of Nichols, when will we hear from him?

I saw Hopson as a Senior in HS and Hubbs last year. JMHO, Hubbs is the better athlete of the 2.

It seems the reason why people may doubt Hubbs' athleticism (some may say very good, but not elite) is because he is so smooth. He makes things look effortless and too easy. He will be a special player, but my expectation for him is not to be some all-world UK type player next season. Depending on how this season goes, Hubbs may not be called upon to be our #1 option to score. Jordy may emerge...just saying. I expect Hubbs to be a freshman that plays like a freshman and has the same learning curve as a freshman. I KNOW he will be much better than what I just typed, but I typically have unrealistic expectations on how these guys should perform and get disappointed. I'll temper mine for now. But I hope he goes Bernard King on the SEC next year.
