FWIW, Atlanta sports radio is reporting that Alabama is close to a deal with Rodriguez. Apparently Moore has canceled a trip he had planned to interview somebody else.

Still, at this point I'll have to see a press conference before I believe anything.

EDIT: If it matters, Moore apparently canceled a trip to Notre Dame for a basketball game, not a trip to interview somebody.

Can't wait to see John Parker Wilson running the Spread Option offense. However, if Rodriguez does take the Bama job I would not be surprised to see one of the top Dual-Threat QB's bolt to bama. I would think that they would get immediate playing time in that system.

He is a good coach with good talent in a CRAPPY conference. Bring that offense to Alabama and I cant wait for Chris Donald to LEVEL the guy with the ball.

You are more confident than I am in our ability to stop an option offense. I think West Virginia could score 40 on us if we played them in a bowl this year.

It's a general misconception that the spread offense is finesse. It's not. It's power football with a kink thrown in. I'm not sure why people think it won't have success. WVU's offense didn't get shut down by Georgia last season.

I'm just hoping we land Donald. What's your thought?

Rodriguez just ain't a good fit.

If I'm Mal Moore I'm busting down Norm Chow's door, followed by David Cutcliffe.

i think it fits in with the general misconception that only SEC teams can play football. any variation of it is weak and "sucks" as so many people like to claim

JPW ran the spread offense at Hoover High School...you may have heard of it...they were National Champs. His brother is now QB there.

That's true, but do you even slightly believe that the JPW version of the spread would even remotely resemble the Pat White version of the spread?

Two Words, Chris Leak.

It's not so much people think it won't work at all, but you truly have to have the right players before you can even attempt it. That takes time, and at a program like Alabama, well their AD isn't big on "time".
