we are getting absolutely ZERO contribution from these 4 players offensivelly, and only richardson is providing much of anything on defense. In a combined 86 minutes the 4 of them tonight combined for 8 points on 3 of 20 shooting which is 15%, ARE YOU SERIOUS??? They had 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 turnovers in the game as well, NOT THE LEAST BIT IMPRESSIVE. Meanwhile the other 4 with major minutes golden, maymon, hall, and woolridge played a combined 105 minutes tonight. They totaled 50 points between them on a combined 20 of 34 which is 59%. They also had 16 rebounds, 5 assists, and 9 turnovers.

As you can tell probably from watching the game and now seeing the numbers the 2 and 3 position are really what is killing us. Trae seems like he is starting to level out and we can count on pretty consistent play from him. Jeronne getting in foul trouble hurt him tonight but he still had a very nice game, and once again kenny seems to be showing glimpses that he may be figuring it out. Woolridge, just keep doing what your doing, hitting open shots and playing hard D. He did blow a dunk down low when he lost the pass from Golden but other than that he has been playing very well.

I really dont know what the answer is at the 2 and 3 position and im interested to know what everyone thinks. I think honestly tatum is the worst one of them all, but there is also no reason that jordan should be held to under 10 points any night he has too much damn talent its so frustrating. The only option that i can even think of is play a lineup of golden, richardson, maymon, stokes, hall. I just really dont see this team being able to play good enough defense and on offense the d will just completely back off and dare everybody to shoot the ball.

Thoughts????

Yemi had 6 rebounds in 8 minutes. Led the team.

i feel bad for tatum i really do, but us feeling bad for him isnt going to improve his game. your right he hasnt gotten worse he just really hasnt gotten any better which is completely unfortunate. we really need to figure out something though at the 2 and 3 position it is absolutely killing us.

Could play Woolridge at the 3 some. Isn't that his natural position anyway?

he can and ccm actually made a mention of this the other night that you could see golden, richardson, woolridge, stokes, maymon. he made it sound like it would be just an option that could be out there during the game but who knows. something needs to happen though on the wings we cant win not getting anything from them.

What really killed us is when Golden wasn't in the game, in my opinion. No other perimeter guys did anything, and Tatum ended up forcing something. It would be nice if Washpun was a little further along on offense, but he's still learning how to run the offense effectively. I don't really know what the solution is for the backup PG when Golden comes out of the game against decent teams.

Golden played 34 minutes. That's a helluva lot of minutes. 6 more than any other UT player. Tatum and Hall played 28 minutes and Tatum didn't score a point. Richardson played 25 minutes and didn't score a point.

I'd venture to guess if Tatum and Richardson play their normal games then we get a big win tonight.

If this was my team and depending on Stokes, I would start Richardson and rotate to a bigger lineup. Slide Maymon and Woolridge to the 3. The only time this hurts us is when we play guard oriented teams and then you still have leverage with Woolridge off the bench. I have no idea what you can do with the 2. Let McRae and Tatum split the minutes and give the rest to McBee.

McRae better get it together or I'm getting another Avy :p

The only problem is that one of the guys in your group shot 50% and came up with a huge steal with the game hanging in the balance.

Complete idiot,we had a chance to beat a top 20 team on the road and you got that out of the game. You need to get back over to the football forum and leave the BB to the rest of us!

How is that an idiotic post? Is it because he wasn't saying Golden is the worst point guard ever and needs to be benches? Those points he made are killer. Heard that the wings (those he mentioned) were a combined 3 for 11 last night. Sure, it is easy to blame Golden for the loss because of the untimely turnover (and yes, I cursed his name some when it happened) but I'm also intelligent enough to see that he does so much more good than bad for this team.

I suggested this potential lineup, albeit for next season, and you put me on blast for it. Now, you are suggesting it yourself?

I understand the limitations of this lineup, but there are also some major advantages, especially as it relates to rebounding and interior presence both offensively and defensively. Our major disagreement seemed to be whether Maymon could guard opposing SFs, which I believe he can on most nights. He could have last night for example. Guys like Brad Beal may be trouble for him because of his versatility. Offensively, if they pack the paint, you hope you get some fouls called and hope Golden and Richardson or McRae can hit from outside to keep them honest. McRae has been good from outside, he just needs to have more faith in his ability to drive. Adding 30 lbs would help that cause.

and you were exactly who i was thinking of everytime i watched tatum drive to the hoop and fling up a no look hail mary. i really dont think the lineup you and i are suggesting is going to be a long time fix, but right now it may be what gets us the most wins. the biggest thing i would do i think is give woolridge ALOT of minutes at the 3 as he will be able to guard the oppositions 3. maybe we go with golden, richardson, woolridge, stokes, maymon and sliding those 3 around with hall. i think 30 minutes for golden, richardson, woolridge, stokes and maymon would be about the best thing we can do right now. i really dont know if this is the answer but something needs to happen we have to get SOMETHING out of our wings.
