Richt was offered after a junior day camp in the summer preceding his senior year. Many at Clemson initially thought that they extended their offer prematurely. This is why many people don't value Brad Scott's recruiting skills.

Feel bad for the kid. I know Richt called Bowden ahead of time and made sure he wasn't just offering as a nice gesture.

that's gotta be deflating as Richt's kid knowing that your dad called just to make sure it wasn't a pity offer

You hafta love his will to play the game though. He could very easily hold a clip board for 4 years and rake in the benefits for being a QB at UGA.

Richt had to make the decision that was best for him. There was no way he was going to beat out Willy Korn, the 5th best dual threat qb of his 2007 class. The Clemson people I've talked to have raved about the possibilities for what Korn, a native South Carolinian, is going to wind up doing.

I don't think it had anything to do with him being offered prematurely. During his signing class everyone seemed to think that he was ok with clipboard carrying. Since the Tajh Boyd signing, he would have had absolutely no chance to even see mop up duty. There are three 4 star QB's ahead of him.
