Rick Barnes put bounties on players

So I think the refereeing association has marked Santiago Vescovi as the perpetual sacrifice for that jump ball physicality because the often battered guy can’t get a call on off-ball cuts! He’s the whipping boy!

He is talking about the quicker picker up.

About damned time we channeled our bad boys/detroit selves. Hope this kind of thing continues.

It has, ask Duke, Texas and Alabama. I could go on, but we pounded teams physically, last year

I believe Dean Smith once commended Barnes for being great at teaching his players how to foul / play very physical and not get whistled for it. Think we saw that on display this past season more so than any season in RB’s time in Knoxville. This past year’s team made up for its lack of consistent scorers by playing big boy defense.

CRB hangs his hat on physical defense and rebounding and I want the offense to be just as elite this upcoming season.

Grant was talking about how hard the offseason training was and that two people quit and transferred after a training session in the spring of his freshman season. I'm wondering who he's referring to? My guess is Ray Kasongo and Shembari Phillips but I could be wrong.

Wow. I knew Barnes was tough but I didn’t know it was that tough.

My guess is that it was Kwe Parker, I think both he & Shembari Phillips transferred a bit after the season ended that year.

The full interview is really good and gives some interesting perspectives on UT basketball and the NBA. I didn't even know he was is the VP of the NBAPA since his second year and only lost the vote by 2 his rookie year. Also, a lot of the shocking transfers we get each year have a lot more context..
