Really no one has an opinion? He is the Governor of Texas. He worked with Bush. Someone anyone tell me why I should not vote for him in the primary. He has never lost an election.

if he's not running, you can't vote for him

he seems like a good guy who enjoys thumbing his nose at the President

I'd probably vote for him too

Another Texas governor... I can imagine that they would attack him by saying that the governor of Texas has few responsibilities and powers than most other states... that was the same argument they used on Bush regarding his executive experience.

Texas has faired much better than most states through the recession. Whether he had anything to do with that or not, he will be given credit for it. I would vote for him over any of the other choices right now.

Rick has been a decent Govenor for us. Some folks think he's been in office too long, and criticize him for being complacent in some of his policies. I really don't mind the guy. Our Lt. Govenor is a good dude and I think that's helped Perry continue to get re-elected.

If he wanted to run, he'd carry Texas but it wouldn't be a slam dunk like everyone assumes it would be. He's not as popular as he was before.

Unless there's something none of us know about Perry, I think he can win the primary and he's shown he's tough enough to really challenege Obama and the media for the general. And as tough as Tx politics can be I doubt there's much on him left uncovered. I hope he runs.

Did he accept stimulus money?

I don't know as I don't live in TX.
However stimulus $ was spent in pretty much every state whether or not the Gov wanted it for Fed projects.
I personally won't hold it against Govs who did since it was their residents that paid the $ thus it belonged to them.
I didn't and still don't like the stimulus bill but as I said I won't hold it against states.

Yeah, Perry used a good portion of it to plug the budget gap for FY 2009.

He is a fairly good governor, our state has faired the recession better than most because of the business friendly environment.

He has made some serious mistakes along the way. His re-election was almost destroyed because of a plan to build a toll road using eminent domain to make the single largest land grab of private property in the history of Texas. People are up in arms this year over a $4 billion cut to education for the FY 2011 budget, without tapping a $10 billion rainy day fund.

I am a teacher but this makes me like him actually. Hard decisions have to be made. The President we need will not be liked He will have to make cuts that hurt real bad. Like Food Stamps bye, Welfare bye, Military Cuts (Big Ones), Pork bye, and on and on....the guy who does this will be hated yet loved.

I don't disagree with that at all. My mom is a teacher here in Texas and the result is going to be bigger classroom sizes...just giving an update on the current atmosphere. Perry is a bit lucky too because the state legislator has a republican super-majority so there is not a lot of partisan wrangling.

I think the conservative establishment is pleading with him to run. Meanwhile, the elites are praying that he stays away to keep the sailing clear for Romney.

Why, did Perry re-write Texas history books to suggest that Israel was the birthplace of democracy?

Just caught a replay of Perry's speech to the RLC today. He knocked it out of the park.
