A spokesman with the Russellville Police Department confirmed that Burris had filed a report, but said as of then there were no suspects.

Joshua McMillian, public information officer for Russellville police, said there are no witness statements on concrete evidence at the scene.

Chances are it was a righty but there was the case of the guy either chained to a tree or hung with some writing on him about being a liberal (I can't recall exactly). There was a big uproar about violent right wingers doing this. Turns out it was a suicide and the guy was hoping right wingers would be blamed.

Sucks either way

It happens. I don't put much stock in the story, other than feeling bad for them losing a pet. But I don't read anything into it more than that there are some serious nutjobs out there.

ok what? The knee-jerk reaction is to blame the "other side" (like that really exists) and then when facts come out it gets ignored because the initial headlines got the clicks. Follow-up is non-existent in today's media. If this ends up being anything but some American flag wearing Repub we'll never know

There was follow up on the story you posted.

I don't know what you think can be done other than hoping people don't take away anything more than there are some screwed up people out there.

The media is free to report whatever gets them clicks. If that's the byproduct, so be it.
