Not a surprise imo. Most coaching candidates should be able to see the writing on the wall at SC

You don't pass up LA in order to stay in Corvallis. I'd say that's a pretty good indication that the 'AA is closing in on Southern Cal.

not sure. riley grew up in corvallis. and he has basically lifetime job security at OSU and no expectations of winning pac-10 championships regurally.

I can appreciate the comfort of home. Just tough to imagine a guy passing up on Southern Cal to stay at Oregon State. That's a like a guy in the SEC passing up the Florida gig in order to stay at Ole Miss.

Even if USC was under no threat of probation, I'm still not surprised to see Riley pass on this. He's passed on Bama before as well.

Guess he wasn't lying when he called Oregon State his "forever job."

Good to see, because he's a perfect fit for Corvallis, and Corvallis is a perfect fit for him. What he's accomplished there is actually pretty incredible. For those of you who haven't been to Corvegas, it'd be roughly the equivalent of somebody having Mississippi State or Iowa State in a position to contend for division/conference titles nearly every year.
