This is "Rivalry Week" in college football. Michigan-Ohio State, Alabama-Auburn, Missisippi-Mississippi State and some others. But what about us? The UT-Vandy game was huge when I was a kid, but no one focuses on it anymore. I've noticed only one thread about the Vandy game this week. There were more threads about Notre Dame than our in-state rival.

Has 21 years of consecutive wins (second only to ND over Navy) tarnished this rivalry in fan's minds? Does anyone have the kind of fire in their belly against Vandy that we all seem to have against Alabama and Florida? If so, why? What will it take to rebuild this rivalry?

I for one have a soft spot for Vandy. I was really disappointed when they collapsed this season. I think a strong in-state rival would be great for both fan bases.

The Reason?

In the immortal words of the Vandy Fan in perpetuity:

"Wait till next year"

Pound the Rock and Run to Victory

I want to beat vandy every year, because we beat Vandy every year...as with most good rivalries, there usually aren't that many "streaks" involved....but with this, 22 years? oh, what a bad day it will be when that streak is broken, it will happen, but i hope it's not for a long, long time....same w/KY also....

You wanna know why? Vandy is a bunch of 2-9 perrenial losers. I hate Vandy and they get what they deserve.

Suggestion: Somebody start a thread on the hottest rivalry game each year in Rivalry week ( actually 2 weeks). I think of several such games as Auburn-Alabama, Florida- Florida State, Southern Cal-UCLA, Arizona State-Arizona, Texas AM-Texas, Georgia-Ga. Tech, Virginia-Virginia Tech,
Oregon-Oregon State, UNC-Duke, South Carolina-Clemson.
I think the hottest are the in-state games and my favorites are the Florida, Texas, and California games.
I think probably the hottest is Alabama-Auburn. Opinions?

For an in-state game, I'll go with Fla-Fla State, Fla State-Miami, USC-UCLA, and Auburn-Alabama. But that's just for instate rivals. I like border rivals more. Tennessee's played more games against Alabama than Auburn has.
