I did not realize it was that bad. Stars or no stars, we need to pick it up and not hang our hat on all our 2* and 3* getting 4 & 5 eventually, which to the disappointment of many has not happened as predicted.

Here they are. Take into account that most teams have 1-4 guys which haven't rated so they could basically end up anywhere from 2-4 stars. Number in parenthesis is how many verbals to date.

SEC rankings per rivals methodology

1. Alabama (17) 1563 pts
2. LSU (17) 1140 pts
3. Florida (14) 985 pts
4. Georgia (15) 828 pts
5. Mississippi (16) 743 pts
6. Auburn (15) 619 pts
7. Miss St. (15) 398 pts
8. Arkansas (16) 296 pts
9. Kentucky (16) 271 pts
10. Tennessee (14) 261 pts
11. South Carolina (14) 131 pts
12. Vanderbilt (3) 14 pts

I'll be doing some more teams a bit later.

I believe Saban's first class at Bama was rated 10th by Rivals when all was said and done and UT's class was around 3rd, IRCC. I believe we'll close out just outside of the top ten when NSD comes and goes and I figure Bama will be in the top three if not first.

Of course all of these parallels don't mean that much because we are comparing Saban's talent for getting the most out of his players versus Fulmer's in the past and Dooley's versus Saban's player development in the future. I don't know how good a coach Dooley will be but I can't imagine the gap will be as significant as it was between Saban and Fulmer. Add to the fact that we are a lot more depleted as a team compared to Bama in 07. And to top it all off the current recruiting rules hurt a rebuilding team more than in the past.

In summation, I believe if Dooley is as good as I believe he can be, we will get back to the top of the SEC but it is going to take more time to get there. I don't think this will be an insurmountable gap in talent but some of our entitled fans are in for a rude awakening.

Negative recruiting will take more of an effect on USC as NSD approaches. I would be shocked if Kiffin can legally keep that kind of ranking once coaches start telling what a sleazebag he is to parents.
