Whatever happened to him? I heard a few people bad mouth him on here and the next thing you know, he's not heard from again or getting anymore hype.

What happened?

From the video I've seen on him, he is very soft. I doubt he gets an offer but who knows.

soft, slow, and character issues. His size is the only thing he has going for him. No work ethic other than a ton of 12oz curls.

After a visit to UT, went around saying they offered but he was going to play the recruiting game and wait a while to accept. Thought it sounded a little fishy because he had said before that he wanted to go to UT real bad.

sounds like a pefect fit for Ole Miss, my guess is Coach O will guarantee him a starting position before he steps on campus

My post directly followed this one, alluding to Coach O granting starting positions before arriving on campus. Ala Brent Schaeffer. Follow along now. Ha.

Nice article on Chief Two-Chickens, oops Gonzalez, in the Chattanooga paper today. Coach Fulmer was at practice recently so apparently there is still some interest. The paper listed him at 6'8" 340 lbs and growing. He ran a 5.3 40 at the UT camp. It also mentioned that he played basketball last year and averaged 12 points a game. They had a picture and he sure doesn't look fat. The Chief reference was because he is 1/2 Apache and someone had left him a couple of chickens which his teammates joked that they were for pre-game rituals, not true by the way.

I just glanced at the article but didn't it say he had offers from UT, Auburn, ND and Ohio State?

Some interesting excerpts for those who haven't read the article...

Gonzalez has offers from Tennessee -- he ran a 5.3 40 at senior camp there -- Memphis and Middle Tennessee State. Among teams corresponding often are the Vols (UT coach Phillip Fulmer has been by practice), Notre Dame, LSU, Auburn, Ohio State, Louisville and Colorado.

According to Price, Gonzalez also went to camps at Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Mississippi State. Gonzalez is noncommittal, saying only that he has yet to schedule any official visits. However, he was sporting a UT T-shirt the day he was interviewed and said most of his T-shirts are of the UT variety.

"When I was a (6-5, 250-pound) freshman, I was scared of hurting people," he said. "I didn't think about people having pads on for protection. I was timid, scared to hit people, but the older guys taught me how to deal with it. I like hitting people. I don't lose my temper very often, but I don't have trouble getting ready for games."

"He ain't no fat man, that's for sure, and there's no baby fat on him although he's still growing some," Price said. "He has grown into his body. His motor skills are still catching up, but he's 70 percent better than he was last year, and he made all-state and all-region then."

I'd say the article as a whole is pumping him up a little too much, and with him not having any official visits scheduled, I would guess the interest from the big programs mentioned is mild, but I may be jumping to too much of a conclusion. He has worked hard to become a football player instead of just an oversized chubby kid. With more of the right work/training ethic, I think he could be a beast. I would think it would be worth it to get him and redshirt him and see how he develops.

This guy must have been really bad if Tennessee didn't even give him a peak.

Wow! His stock dropped pretty quickly.
