Robby Gordon docked 100 pts, Crew Chief suspended

the penalty, according to Nascar.com, stems from the fact that Gordon inadvertently used a Dodge Charger nose that had not been approved by NASCAR
I just wonder if the penalty would be as severe for another team.Is Nascar more stern with Gordon because of all his past problems and is he still getting paid back for his Montreal ordeal last season?

Nascar hates Gordon. He always gets screwed in these deals. Whether it's making a green flag pit stop then Nascar throwing an immediate BS debris caution etc. I'm pretty confident that no other driver would have been assessed this penalty especially this severe

While there is no love lost between him and NASCAR, it has been made clear there would be quick and severe penalties for any rules violations on the COT. There have been others just as severe. How do you inadvertantly use the wrong nose on a car?

I'm just saying the Irwin(He's still crew chief?) and Gordon are always getting ripped. Not only in post race but during it as well. It's pretty clear, I understand that he made a mistake, but if it was a team other than a single car operation we wouldn't be having this discussion right now, or at least the severity would be less.

I thought I had heard that Evernham Motorsports sent them the wrong ones, making it an inadvertant mistake as far a Robby Gordons crew was concerned.Still not an excuse, just saying it wasn't blatently intentional.

This will just make him drive crazier! I love RG - he's good for NASCAR. It seems he's the whipping boy a lot though.

If that's the case, then I think the penalty is a mite stiff.
