One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. Hope they don't mess it up. I can still remember sitting in the theater with mom and dad, and the last line of the movie "Nice shooting son. What's your name? Robocop: Murphy.". I thought it was awesome.

it's a matter of time before they try to remake all the 80's movies. i wonder when they start filming Back To The Future. if they're desperate enough to remake footloose, they'll remake anything.

This is actually a good opportunity for a remake. I don't like remakes of movies that still have that "magic" like Footloose. The special effects in Robocop make the movie un-watchable today, IMO. If they mess up the remake, no sweat off my sack, but if it's good then I'll be there front and center.

Not me. They are perfect for what the movie is trying to convey. It's a classic Paul Verhoeven sci-fi movie. No need for a remake. Just another in a long list of movies from the 80s that are being remade for no other reason than hollywood is lazy.

There isn't much that's original. Most "original" movies that come out have borrowed all their ideas from other movies, literature, and history. Robocop is Frankenstein/Six Million Dollar Man in law enforcement. That's the way the industry works. Movies like Memento, with truer originality, are few and far in between.

You may love Robocop, but if you showed that movie to people who haven't seen it, it's likely that 98% of them would say they didn't like it.

True. Although I would prefer they continue to borrow ideas from the past as opposed to just remaking a movie with updated special effects and a slightly different story.

Nice Memento reference, btw. Great movie.

As is the bathroom scene in The Terminator(when he removes the eye), the end of Raiders, the end of Last Crusade, and a few scenes in Total Recall. I prefer to laugh at these moments.

I would rather keep them that way than go the route taken by George Lucas and butcher a classic(to me).

I totally agree with you. The movies are good enough for me, because I was obsessed with them 20 years ago. It's part of the experience.
