Rocket explodes on launch

Yup. no one hurt, just some property damage and obvious damage to the supply rocket. I was out on the coast to see it and all we saw was the explosion. From our view about 90 miles away, we just assumed it was the ignition. Then we never saw it in the air and realized something went wrong.

It's important to note that this is not a NASA rocket, but one from Orbital Sciences which holds a $1.9B contract with NASA to deliver supplies to ISS.

The spacecraft and rockets themselves cost $200 million. The crypto on board needs to be recovered, but it's not overly pricey and it's not like the rocket exploded all over the Bay/Atlantic. Finding it shouldn't be too hard.

There were something like 18 different schools from around the country that worked on different science projects all year so they could send them up to the space station for further experimentation. All that work just exploded.

One news outlet said this is like the third rocket to have exploded that was built by this company.
