It looks like Newsday is the only media outlet confirming the story. I just checked over at ESPN and the GM and agent are denying it. :dunno:

The Newsday article actually acknowledges that the Astros are denying that the deal is done, so who knows?

Newsday is definitely backtracking now.Astros hope to sign Clemens.What in the world are they doing over there? :bad:

Gammons is now saying the deal will probably be done within 24-48 hours.

There is a small conspiracy theory going around that Clemens tested positive for steroids, and baseball has kept it hush hush, which is why he's waited approx. 50 games to sign. The first positive drug test for a player is punished with a 50g suspension.

I don't believe it, but I also wouldn't be surprised with MLB now.

I love conspiracy theories, and it *seems* plausible, but couldn't baseball throw him under the train too to show how serious they are about this steroids issue?
