Roku has done this with several content providers and Companies. They are hard to deal with, they act like the Power Company. Not exactly sure what this means (we have three or four of those roku things for streaming youtube tv)...
Google has said ... Since we haven't been able to continue our conversations in good faith, our partnership for all new Roku devices will unfortunately end on December 9. We are, however, giving Roku the ability to continue distributing both YouTube and YouTube TV apps to all existing users to make sure they are not impacted."
In a couple of years a lot of these streaming services will be exclusive to certain devices. You want to watch Youtube/YTTV then you have to purchase a Google Chromecast device, want to see Amazon Prime you have to purchase an Amazon Fire Stick.
You will end up seeing Netflix and/or Disney come up with a streaming device or sign exclusive deals with Roku, Google or Amazon. The same with NBCUniversal/Discovery, Paramount+ etc..
