As a voter, one of the big drawbacks for Romney (for me) is the fact that I believe he'll have us in another decade-long war that doesn't serve our interests within about one year. Good to see he at least backed away from this comment.

With our economy where it's at now, I think another war could very well send us to The Great Depression.

1 more thing I found interesting is this..

“The regime in Iran is five years closer to developing nuclear weapons capability,” the Journal reported the excerpts of what Romney was set to say in a speech Sunday night. “Preventing that outcome must be our highest national security priority.”

I think they have already played that card before if im not mistaken.

Iran is much closer to producing nuclear weapons than previously thought, and could be less than five years away from having an atomic bomb, several senior American and Israeli officials say.

Oh well, gotta keep the machine rolling I guess.

The Israelis have been wanting war with Iran for well over a decade. That piece you linked is from 1995. My personal belief is that ANY alliance with a Middle Eastern country is bad for America when religion rules in that part of the world and yes, that includes Israel. That's why Romney gave that speech in Jerusalem and declared it the "capitol" of Israel even though the Palestinians control half of it. Obviously, I know Israel has far too much influence for us to ever tell them to fight their own battles but it's a disaster for foreign policy.

It'll be the USA that will take the economic hit and most importantly, the tremendous loss of life that would come with a war against Iran. We lost about 4,000 in the Iraq war. I could see it being 15,000+ if we went to war against Iran.

Our politicians talk big because it's not their kids returning home in a body bag. For that matter, Romney himself dodged the Vietnam war draft.

It depends on the type of war. If we just blow them to crap and destroy their nuclear sites then we won't lose many. If we become an occupational force playing police then we'll lose many more.

Thought this was funny. It's practically a photo op. Makes me think of kissing the Godfather's hand.
