Romney Takes Credit for Auto Industry Turnaround, Reignites Bailout Debate - ABC News

Romney must not be aware that everything he says and does in public is recorded.
Here is another case of him not telling the truth.
He was totally against the auto bailouts.

“My own view, by the way, was that the auto companies needed to go through bankruptcy before government help, and frankly that’s finally what the President did,” Romney said during an interview with ABC News’ Cleveland affiliate WEWS on Monday. ”He took them through bankruptcy. That was the right course I argued for from the very beginning. It was the AW and the President that delayed the idea of bankruptcy.”

“I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done and help was given, the companies got back on their feet, so I’ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry’s come back,” Romney told WEWS

I saw this. Absolutely amazing since he said he didn't want them to get government bailiout funds. Now he's trying to say he meant "until they went through bankruptcy." What a crock. And he looks so disingenuous saying it.

He knows its a lie. And he knows everyone watching the interview knows its a lie.

He can't help himself.

What I would have said if I was Mitt:

I'm glad there is still a GM and a Chrysler. Had we used the existing bankruptcy law they would still be here but the US tax payer wouldn't be holding a $60 billion tab for it. Instead of the government violating years of contract law and rewarding political buddies, we'd have had an orderly and contractually legal settlement.

Instead, he trots out this garbage. What a moron.

Would be more honest and much more consistent with what he said at the time. But he wants votes in Michigan, Ohio, etc.
