Italian Basketball, Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings - EUROBASKET

American Ronald Slay (203-F-81, agency: David Lee services) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Cimberio Varese and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 13 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat Enel Brindisi (#14, 1-4) 73-60. Despite this victory Cimberio VA dropped to the 2nd position in Italian SerieA. They are still close to the very top. Cimberio VA would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. It's Slay's second year at Cimberio VA and it's hard to imagine this team without him. University of Tennessee graduate has very impressive stats this year. Slay is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 7.2rpg) and averages solid 55.6% FGP.

I was in college at UT for most of Slay's tenure. Those weren't the best Tennessee teams, but they had their moments. More often than not, Slay or Marcus Haislip was at the center of those moments. He was fun to watch. It'd be great to see him get a chance in this country.

Ron Slay was too much for the SEC at the time. They ruined his playing style which was exciting and fun to watch!

I loved Ron Slay. His momma crazy though.
One of my funnier memories of watching Slay play was sitting a few rows behind his mother for one of his games.

She yelled "box out, Ronnie, box out!" the entire game.

I saw her get into two fights at her daughter's games when she was at Seymour. She got thrown out of the Fulton gym during the District Tournament. She did talk with my team about Ron for a few moments though.
