Rivals reports that Jim Chaney headed to St. Louis today for recruiting. The only recruit I can find that has any interest (low) in Tennessee there is:

Ronnie Wingo Jr. (4 star ATH 6-3/212/4.40)

Ronnie Wingo Jr. - Football Recruiting

If they are not making a push for him, anyone else have any ideas who UT may have interest up in the St. Louis area?

im from st. louis and ya the only players i can think of is sheldon richardson (who has been solid to mizzou for a while). Ronnie Wingo (who ive seen play and i think hes a little over rated, i really wouldnt get to excited about him), and jordan webb who is a 3* quarterback and a kansas commit. He's the best rated qb in st. louis and i can see us trying to talk to him because we desperatly need options at qb. He put up video game numbers but he plays against a bunch of slow, fat farm boys who cant play football

I second St. Louis Vols comment. Wingo is a nice player, but overrated. Being the best running back in St. Louis is like being the tallest midget........HS football in STL is not much to see.....

HS football in STL is not bad at all. In no way is wingo over rated folks. He is a state champion in the 100M, so you cant argue speed along with size. He didnt play against the best competition but personally seeing him play quite a few times he is the real deal. But he is a lock to Mizzou or Illinois. St. Louis constantly sends kids off to good D1 programs. Desmet, CBC, Vianney, East Saint Louis, Edwardsville, Timberland, Parkway, Francis Howell all have great athletes that send kids off to D1 schools. Richardson could be an option also he could head over 10 minutes to East Saint louis across the river and talk to Kraig Appleton and Terry Hawthorne, both stud 4 star receivers committed to illinois but considering their commitment open and are hearing from other schools.

ya that is true he could be trying to talk to a 2010 guy. but ya st louis produces some good football players. wingo plays in the metro catholic league and in the highest class in the state. both very respectable. i just think he is purely an athlete. hes not very good out of the backfield catching the ball and stuff like that. ill probably be eating my words in a couple of years though who knows. thats a good point though those two recievers in east st. louis are studs.

He also just coached there for the Rams, he may be tidying up things at home and managing his affairs.

I really think they have some 2010/2011 guys there, though, that he's in touch with while he's at home.

Again, Wingo is a nice player and as a Vol fan I would like to see him wearing Orange. STL area football is getting better but compared to other medium size cities it ranks low in quality and quantity. I live and coach in the Layfayette area a group of boys that will be future Lancers and I only hope the football gets better. STL is a soccer town and that is not going to change soon. I would like to see some inroads into the recruiting of the few players in the area because they are up for grabs. I think Mizzou is on the slide. Layfayette has had two players go to the South recently with the Lineman to Vandy last year and Taylor bennett to GT.

I agree with you about STL being a soccer city. I live in belleville, and over in Illinois there is some very good football. I mean iwould consider ESL a top 40 team in the nation this year, and edwardsvile, belleville east, ofallon and alton produce up to 2 D1 kids a year. I still think Tenn could be going after some of the ESL prospects in Appleton and Hawthorne.

Hey and by the way, Sheldon Richardson probably wont qualify for mizzou. Big talk around is that he will be very tough to get academically eligible.
