Never had to buy from a scalper before and just decided to take my son last minute. Probably my only option. Wasn't there a change recently as to where scalpers were allowed to stand? And if so where would that be?

for a game like this, dont give over $30 for great seats. my guess it that they will try to sell you the "less great" seats for about $40. Find someone close to the stadium that is "older or Larger " and holding up his extra tickets. He will be ready to make a deal.

Awesome, thanks. Only need 2 tickets and gotta know how much to expect to spend as well so this helps a lot.

Ask about five people before you buy. Take a printout of stadium sections with you. You should be able to get 2 tickets for 20, maybe 10. It's not sold out so don't take any bs from the sellers.

The closer to the stadium you get them, usually the better deal and often better seats. Don't buy from the folks far away (close to I-40 etc...) from Neyland, bad deal/worst seats. The closer to game time brings out the best value, but don't wait until 15-20 minutes or so after the first quarter starts, because scalpers become awfully scarce and that's when the scams usually begin (already used worthless tickets). Look at your tickets carefully, know the stadiums seating (so you get the best seats), and enjoy the game. Go Big Orange!!!

One last thing. I usually don't buy from from the first person I talk to. I want to gauge the "real" price of things. So I talk to at least a couple. For the opening game blowout I would be happy if I got seats for around $20 a piece. But I anticipate the first price given to start around $40 a ticket. Good Luck! GBO!!! Wish I was there with you! But I guess I'll just have to wait till next week, when I'll be doing the same thing.

Here's what I've found - and I've only scalped ~10 times...

The closer you get to gametime, the more ticket prices drop. During the morning/day - most scalpers are on the strip or are near the UC side entrance facing Neyland.

Around the time the band heads to the stadium, scalpers are all around the stadium, from Gate 21 down to the river. If you have patience, these are your best deals - but not necessarily your best tickets.

Remember that there will be plenty of inventory even past kickoff - so don't stress that you won't get a ticket.

Agree. The closer to kickoff you can hold out, the better deal you will get.

Hang out near the Navy. Just ask around, say you just need a couple of tickets for you and your son. You'll get them.
