Rookies and Darlington

I always enjoy watching the rookies at Darlington. Really look forward to seeing the open-wheelers test out the lady in black.

First time I went to Darlington I fell in love with the place. I don't know why, it's definitely not the most fan-friendly track on the circuit, but that's probably why I like it so much. It's old-school. Good to see ISC putting money into the place to give it a nice touch-up. Now if NASCAR would find their brain and send the Southern 500 back to Labor Day.

My favorite track, the second one I went to after several years of Bristol. Saw Cale Yarborough win his first Southern 500. I have said before moving the Southern 500 date to California is one of the biggest screw ups by Nascar ever. I have always used Bristol and Darlington as the tracks to measure true driver talent. If you can win at these two tracks, you can win anywhere.

Back before the Chase, Darlington was Labor Day weekend and Bristol always was the next week. How great would it be to be leading up to the Chase and have Darlington and Bristol to negotiate? Talk about weeding out the pretenders.

I thought Bristol was always the weekend before Labor Day. Atleast that's how I remember the date now.

Actually back in the beginning, the Southern 500 was on Labor Day Monday, and was for many years. I believe Bristol was before Darlington. It was the last weekend of August for years. I would like to see Bristol in the Chase as long as it wasn't too late in the year.

AJ Allmendinger was fastest in practice :eek:hmy: that kid has really stepped it up after they pulled him for a few races

You will see some of the Go or Go home cars fast in practice due to the cars being set up for all out qualifying speed, while the top 35 will have a compromise set-up since they do not have to worry about making the race. This is not to take away from an impressive run by AJ, specially at Darlington.

The Busch race is usually a demolision derby. If the truth makes me a smartass then so be it.

Hamlin wrecked qualifying and missed the Nationwide race...
not just the rookies making mistakes

the 6 ran him up into the wall, I know the 6 was on new tires and was faster but it looked like he slid up into the 66
