First, he can't keep his mouth shut. Calling out Tiger is about the worst thing anyone can do. He obviously didn't learn his lesson earlier this year. Said "I kind of like the new Tiger" inferring he thought Tiger was more beatable than ever.

Then on Sunday, when making the turn, a fan says "Hey Rory, do you still like the new Tiger?". Sabbatini promptly has the fan removed from the grounds. Calling this guy a prick would be too generous, he is absolutely the biggest punk to play on the tour in years. He is going to take some heavy duty crap for this.

Would like to hear other thoughts

I love what he did to Ben Crane and the fact that he speaks "stream of consciousness" rather than the robotic taught crap that many of the others use.

You did. He is a f'ing punk. That move against Crane was a total lack of etiquette IMHO and I have played all over the world and with all kinds of players including 2 US Amatuers among some other national amatuer events. Everyone already knew Crane was the one slowing the group down. He didn't need to draw attention to himself in that manner. I don't like the robotic stuff either, but you have to admit he is pretty stupid for calling out Tiger.

It's pretty telling though that he likes to throw verbal barbs but when somebody makes a what was really a benign comment his way, he has them ejected from the course.

Perhaps if he would work on not being a head case with rabbit ears, he wouldn't get steamrolled in pressure situations.

I agree and if he doesn't watch out, he will become another Colin Montgomerie....another who speaks his mind or did all too often then couldn't take it when a little heckling came his way.

the heckling didn't kill Monty, his putting did. He never could putt it, but hit it as well as anybody for a long stretch and it carried him on the weak EPGA tour. His Ryder Cup record would point to the fact that the pressure doesn't kill him. He gets there on slow greens and murders us.

I think Sabattini is a punk, but hate slow play even worse. I'm no fan, but do like his candid style and will support any move against slow play.

Sabattini is viewed a whiner. Everything is has said and one in the last couple weeks has done nothing but further that label.

Sounds like Rory has the "Shooter McGavin" complex

I don't know about that....Monty has folded up like a tent in majors when pressure was applied. And the number of times he folded up after "hearing" someone in the gallery is well documeted. I think having a partner relaxes him to some extent and I think that also adds to his Ryder Cup success.

he hit a poor shot in last year's US Open, but he played well enough to win the Open at Oakmont and the PGA at Riviera. Probably should have won the 92 open at Pebble as well. He flat can't putt with the guys that win the big ones.

You're probably right about that. Sabbatini caught all the heat for walking off, but Ben Crane was just as inconsiderate if not more.

Slow play will kill the fun for me long before an a-hole will. The guys on TV exacerbate the problem and Crane is the poster child. Sab caught the heat, but did bring a lot of attention to the slow play issue.

I'm glad he called Tiger out, or tried to... We need more of that around. One of two things will then happen: Somebody paired with Tiger may finally beat him, or he will play even better and make his legacy as the greatest golfer ever. I'm fine with either.

You're right. He has missed some big putts. Nobody has made as many big putts as Tiger. He seems to always make the 5 footer under extreme pressure. The only time I can remember him missing some short ones was this year at the US Open. He hit the ball good enough on Sunday to win. He will win this week at the PGA

So far, calling out Tiger hasn't worked too well for those that have tried it.

You may be glad, but everyone who has done it isn't glad. LOL. Most of the top players have said it is a stupid strategy to call him out. Listen, when you beat guys as bad as he does on the toughest courses, there is nothing good to come from calling him out. Let your clubs do the talking. It is what Jack did, Tom Watson did, Faldo, Norman,Tiger does and Phil does. You never hear the best players popping off unnecessarily. Look at Sergio, his mouth has made him look ignorant so many times I am starting to actually feel sorry for him.

What does anyone want to bet Rory has learned his lesson and doesn't call the Tiger out anymore?

Southern Hills doesn't set up particularly well for him. Better said, it negates some of his tremendous advantage.

To borrow part of a phrase from Woody Paige, one Rory Sabatini is better to have around than ten "plastic-mouthed" golf-bots.

Firestone was much tougher last week than Southern Hills will be this week. That being said, set-up doesn't always relate to "toughness" when speaking of the golf course. He will be able to hit some long irons and 3 woods off the tee and still have reasonable distances to the greens

Firestone was tough and very, very long. Tiger should be a favorite against the entire field every time he plays a course like that. Southern Hills is very different. He loses the tremendous advantage of his long game and strength from the rough (Southern Hills has trees as protection moreso than rough). Shorter straight hitters have a prayer here. They don't at Firestone.
