There have been over 400 transfers this offseason. Granted we are not interested in many of the players, but our name hasn't come up in the conversation for any of them. Cuonzo's class is below average this year and next year isn't looking special either. Pearl got the job done with transfers and I think Cuonzo needs to get his program established with transfers too. With Stanton leaving, that should open up a scholarship spot. We should be looking at kids that need to sit out a year and play in 2013-2014.

Roscoe Smith from UCONN is one of those kids. He is 6'8, top 30 recruit in the 2010 class. I would think Cuonzo should give him a call. He could come in and fill the 3 or 4 spot.

Stanton wasn't on scholarship. We currently do not have a scholarship to offer to anyone, highschooler or transfer.

Well for starters...

How does his class next year appear to be below average? It's setting up to be a very good class.

Also, with Stanton leaving that doesn't do anything for our scholarship situation, he was a walk on.

I do agree however roscoe smith is a good player, but if you look at who his final schools were before he picked Uconn, he'll probably be heading to one of those schools.

I'm not sure Pearl should get all of the credit for the transfers that did contribute. I don't consider what Bone did a huge contribution. I expected more out of him. He got Maymon, but Cuonzo made Maymon the player he was this year. He was terrible with Pearl. Tyler Smith was coming back regardless and would have been here anyway. JP Prince was from Tennessee and wasn't doing much at Arizona. I'm not hating on Pearl, just think that transfers look at schools they were recruited by and you have to have an open spot.

Way to start a accusatory thread without knowing what you're talking about. :good!:

This is the stuff that makes VN special.

Exactly why he hasn't returned. I swear some people just say the dumbest ish they can think of just to get a reaction then dissapear.

This cat actually appeared to be serious though which makes it even funnier.

It really is funny. I'm like you, I think they do it just to get a reaction.

I will say if there's a transfer id like it'd be Xavier's mark Lyons. Good pg, eligible to play immediately, and only 1 year of eligibility so doesn't take a scholarship next year year.

However I don't think tennessees even in consideration just saying. Fwiw Arizona, Kentucky, and Kansas are after Lyons and right now Arizona appears to be the favorite. Hopefully he goes there and not Lexington.

Haven't responded because I am in my final semester of law school with 6 classes and 16 hours.

This class IS BELOW average, it's not close to medicore. I'm not blaming Cuonzo because I don't think he had enough time for the 2012 recruits. Didn't realize Stanton wasn't on scholarship. Looks like we aren't getting any transfers, and no way a former Duke player (MG) is coming to Tennessee.

I don't know how accurate or fair that is, but I guess it all depends on what your definition of average/mediocre is.

A class of a 5* top 15 player, a 3*, a solid juco and a 2*....isn't what I'd consider "not close" to mediocre. There are a bunch of colleges, and many in the SEC that would gladly swap recruiting classes with us.

It's still up for debate whether Edwards is solid on the D1 level. His stats were not impressive this year and he didn't make JUCO All-American.

Luckily, SEC recruiting was pretty terrible this year in b-ball. With only two classes in the top 25, although A&M is just outside the top 25 and closed strong with two big-time JUCO's.

His stats weren't impressive? 14ppg 7.5rbd 45% fg...last time I checked those are pretty good numbers. He obviously couldve scored more if he chose to since he was shooting 45%, how many players on last years roster shot 45% from the field? How many we're 10+ppg 5+rbd??? He's not gonna blow you away, or be a 20 a night guy, but he's what I said, solid. He has a SEC body, and a well rounded game, if he's not a solid contributor next year I'll be surprised.

Who was the 2nd team in the top 25, I count 1.

As I said I don't know what your definition of mediocre/average is, but usually it means in the middle. I'm pretty sure UT's class is definitely atleast middle of the road in the SEC.
