Sorry for the confusion, this is for the 2024 season, so the first 12-team playoff would actually end in 2025

Yep. Looks like it's a done deal. So we don't have to worry about what we think of it, I guess. I like traditions, so I can see where the rose parade coinciding with the rose bowl was a biggie. Having the Pac "10" and Big "10" champs play each other was a great idea, maybe the greatest idea in football since the forward pass.

Wikipedia says the Rose Bowl was created to help pay for the parade.

Good. F the Rose Bowl. The only problem I have with this CFP is that the quarterfinals are at bowl sites and not on campus or home venues. Thats asking way too much for fans. Plus it diminishes the atmosphere and doesn’t allow 1-4 the advantage of playing at home in the quarterfinals.

Do away with the bowl games and expand the playoffs to 16 and be done with it. Give the rest of the D1 programs as many practices as the playoff teams.

I’m always in favor of more good football, and more important football. I think with a 16 team CFP, just like a 12 team CFP the issue is how you get there. Are we going to move Week zero to week 1? Are we going to have 2 rounds of home sites ? Do you lose the main incentive to be a top 4 seed w/o having a bye being a reward? I’m think it will eventually get there, but I’ll live w/ 12 right now.

Also. I hate that the G5 gets an automatic spot. This isn’t the NCAA bball tournament. If they’re good, that’s fine, but there needs to be caveats of being a top 15 team or something included.

I think so too and I’m ok w/ that. I just think it’s crazy to expect fan bases to travel to major metropolitan cities multiple times around the holidays . I think the environments will suffer when they should be at an all time high.

Agreed. First couple of rounds has to be on campus.

Set it up like the high school level.
Lower seed travels to higher seed.
Until you get to a certain point and then you do orange, rose, sugar etc.

You were right. I was just expanding on it . It shouldn’t be this hard to do like you said when every other level of football has that same playoff format.

And if they wanted to go the $$ route they could do something similar to the ACC tournament and play the opening rounds in the same set up and sell ticket packages
