What do Rotary clubs do?
We are a humanitarian organization, whose primary focus right now is the eradication of Polio. We are almost there, as there are only 12 cases of Polio in the world right now. We are hoping by 2019 or 2020, they can declare it eradicated.
Outside of that primary focus, our clubs meet locally to discuss local issues, as well as focus on projects in the US and Internationally to help people live better. We do a lot of water and sanitation projects, as well as focus on literacy and education.
Here's a couple of links to give you some more information.

It's amazing the progress on Polio, with vaccines being so dangerous and ineffective. For perspective, there were 55,000+ cases in the US the year before the vaccine was released. Can you imagine the hysteria if we saw newer infections (like Ebola) at that rate? 3 cases and people were wearing masks and avoiding travel.
The rotary does good work, much of it is centered on local needs, as well.
I went to Mexico with a group of dentists to translate for them on a humanitarian trip. Met some Rotary guys while I was there and translated for them so they could coordinate plans to build classrooms at a local elementary school. They went back that year and fixed things up, true to their word. Good guys.
