A Fannie Mae Political Reckoning - WSJ.com

What's up with people introducing a bill to actually address the main culprit in the housing revaluation that killed all the excess capital that was fueling our markets? Crazy talk. It's better to vilify bonus takers on Wall Street because it gets more votes, but this will tell us about Dodd and Frank and Co.

Mr. Transparency strikes again...

From the 2008 meltdown through 2020, the toxic twins will cost taxpayers close to $380 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office's cautious estimate. The Obama Administration won't even put the companies on budget for fear of the deficit impact, but it realizes the problem because last Christmas Eve it raised the $400 billion cap on their potential taxpayer losses to . . . infinity.

so, Teleprompter Jesus will put the war funding on budget (which is temporary) but he won't put Fannie and Freddie on budget for fear of exploding the deficit?

well, LG did vote for this, so why should we expect any of it to make sense.

Pretty simple - he's against the war spending so he wants to expose it. He's for the F and F spending so he wants to hide it.

the real problem clearly is the major banks who have paid off their loans wiht massive interest, not the places run by the govt running hundred billion $$$$ annual deficits. jesus guys, have a clue.

what are you laughing at? War funding is a temporary expense separate from the rest of the defense budget, when the war is over, the money no longer needs to be appropriated.

strange. obama included less money in the future spent on iraq as money he cut from spending? are you implying he was being less than honest?

I'll give Obama some credit and say that he's honest when he says he loves his children. After that, he wouldn't know honesty if it smacked him in the mouth with a dead carp.

Obama, less than honest? That's crazy talk. Dude is new politics, new Washington and has a magic money mint.

The only meaningful reform to FM & FM would be to close them down and get out of that business which the US government has no business being in to begin with.

I agree we should pull the troops out of Germany and deploy them along the US/Mexican border.

BTW, Slick Willy said we would have our troops out of the Balkans in one year and we are still there going on fifteen years now.
