Great thread! Sounds like Butch is setting the bar very high...in all aspects of the program.

The comments about Nike and the effect the change over is having on the team should seem ridiculous. However, I am a big believer in the placebo effect and if some of the players believe they are faster in Nike shoes, then they probably are.

This is actually an awesome read. Lot of good info and pics of the facilities.

I found the "bullpen" recruiting strategy particularly interesting. I think it speaks to this staff's recruiting success so far. Not sure how many other teams do that.

Enjoyed reading of young Phillips expected to get PT by the staff. Best way to keep the recruiting train rolling is to demonstrate to young players, if they have it and work hard, they can get on the field as frosh!

This part seems really cool:

I've learned that Johnson was shown Tennessee's new virtual reality system, similar to this one described in great detail by FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman, and came away blown away by the technology. Very few schools in the nation have this technology, to my knowledge, Ole Miss is the only other school in the SEC to have access to the virtual reality tech. But Tennessee has video engineers currently developing new and unique ways to utilize the technology that no other school in the nation has the capability or knowledge of at this point. In an interesting note, coaches told my sources that a number of teams have attempted to hire away these engineers to bring the technology to their school, only to be turned down by team's engineers. Sounds like the engineers are on to something big and no one wants to gone when the football team starts reaping in the benefits of their hard work.

I dont know about the uniforms but there is a noticeable difference in the cleats. Swain has mentioned it before and its true, we were at a competitive disadvantage playing in Adidas cleats. They are not as well made as Nike cleats and they caused foot problems with some of our players.

This off-season on the recruiting trail definitely hasn't been as electric as the previous too, but it's impossible for programs that are still building to consistently get Top 5-10 recruiting classes. Honestly, I just hope we stay in the Top 15. I'm not too hopefully that we will land any of the big time recruits like we have the last few cycles. I just want some stability and depth to be added, and it would be nice to keep a relatively high-ranked class.

Past two years our main pitch had been "playing time at a major universit. After this year it needs to be "you're one of the last missing pieces we need to win championships". Look at Bama, if a kid goes there he's pretty much guaranteed an SEC championship ring if he stays 4-5 years

We did have a good number of foot/ankle injuries that seemed to be caused from wear-and-tear. It'd be interesting to see if the switch changes that at all.

link doesn't work. They must have let out info that wasn't supposed to come out. I was wondering why someone like rocky top talk would be releasing an exclusive when that stuff typically goes to VQ. I could also see RTI or 247 getting one over RTT

First time poster on here, my apologizes if I noob it up in here with this post. My name is Michael W Bratton aka SEC Mike, and I am the author of the original post that lead to the creation of this thread.

The article does have a number of interesting news and notes never before discussed to my knowledge, and I cover the team for a living. It's worth reading for sure.

Sorry for the confusion with this article today. It was originally posted on RTT but was removed for reasons I cannot go into here. Please know that it was NOT removed due to inaccuracy or any of the statements, news, quotes, photos or any content from the post itself.

The article has been repackaged and put up on FOX Sports college football section, which is the main site that I write for. Link: FOX Sports - College Football page

It can also be found here if you just want the actually story: Inside look at Tennessee's Orange Carpet Day event | FOX Sports

(Again so sorry, not sure how to properly work this pages hyperlinks and I'm pretty sure I failed here haha)

If you want more great info, feel free to follow me on Twitter @MichaelWBratton as I tweet almost exclusively on SEC Football, with the majority of my efforts on the Vols and with the rare bad college football jokes thrown it for fun.

Thanks guys for the kind words above and again, sorry for the confusion!

Nice I was really hoping we would get on the front end of the Virtual Reality system. It sounds like we have while in typical Butch fashion looking for a way to make it better than everyone else's
