I keep seeing more and more players not put their mouthguards in before a play. Way back when, the refs would jump on you and threaten to remove you. Has something changed? My experience is based on NAIA years ago (C-N). Would NCAA have more lax rules?

I think the pants are supposed to cover their knees, but now everyone wears shorts.

They don't enforce bc they are over 18
They can make their own choices in that regard

That's what I've been told anyway
Seems funny tho bc their main purpose is to limit concussion
So like the criteria for rankings and seeding, these standards are onlyenforced as they want to enforce them

A couple of implants and a 10-15K dental bill and they'll start wearing 'em.

Speaking of rules. What about blood on a player. It seems like basketball players are immediately removed from a game when they get cut. It is a different rule in football?

Not sure why hoops is so different. Football, hockey, etc all let the blood thing slide. And don't even mention the UFC. There's some major exchange of bodily fluids in that sport.

I get it in the pros, but not in college. They are very strict about it in college basketball.

Maybe it’s whatever the players are tested for. Basketball is considered a non contact sport, so maybe they don’t require as much. Combat sports test blood for everything imaginable.

In NCAA lacrosse, it is a non-released penalty to have mouthguard out. They will let you play without a cup and without shoulder/rib pads. But no mouthguard = your team plays man down for 1-3 minutes.
